I've painted my first AT-RT and in good Star Wars tradition added red stripes to it to give the vehicle a more interesting look. I'm currently converting the second one and wouldn't mind reading people's thoughts on their preferences of what kind of appearance these should ideally take. There's even a poll for anyone interested.

The reason I'm asking is because while I'm not strictly unhappy with the first model, I'm wondering if I should match the style on the second one or try something different instead. I'll stick with red for now, but the shape (and placement) of the decorations is very much a matter for debate.

I'd appreciate hearing some opinions on what other people like.

the rebellion isn't an orginized military, they're more a (very well armed) terrorist orginization, then a highly regimented military go ahead and mix it up. maybe the stripes are applied by each pilot to his ride

I concur with Brian, there is not really any need for regimentation (though unit cohesion is useful). I like what you have done already, maybe switch the stripe from the aft end of the cockpit to the fore or do the same pattern in a different colour.

In spite of adding an option to the poll to that effect, I never really thought about the Rebel Alliance like that, what with them clearly having uniformed troops and fleets and stuff. But yeah, makes sense. The thought certainly makes a different patterns on the second vehicle more appealing.

My imperial field manual says racing stripes are against regulations



On my own at-rts I did one, two and three stripes

also noticed so many unpainted parts on the bases after taking a picture of them...

The Rebellion was both.
You had the cells and the actual organization itself.


That said, the stripes work--especially on the AT-RT. It's scavenged gear from the Clone Wars, not fresh off the factory line equipment.

Nice. I may have to follow the pattern on the one in the middle for my second AT-RT.
