A standard world eaters list contains 3 rhinos with about 8 berserkers and support HQ's (exalted champion etc). My question is, even with enough threat saturation (a lord of skulls, Kytan, etc) does popping a rhino turn 1 severely cripple the world eaters player? Essentially now that berzerker squad has to foot slog the rest of the game. Or does big bad dude provide enough incentive to shoot at it rather than the rhinos?

I am contemplating a world eaters list but even optimized, I can't see why most people wouldn't just target a rhino or 2 turn one.

Ive found that you do need something more potent to kill first, yeah. Even just something like a despoiler knight or bloodthirster would halt the firepower from popping rhinos.

I also find that if you go second and dont get to move before the rhinos are blown up, you can still eventually get there. Just be sure to know that berzerkers are paper when it comes to defense.

You need to mix in enough other threats. Using a bunch of daemon engines/helbrutes might be better than a superheavy as it means even more targets on the board. With Hateful Assault, daemon engines and helbrutes are getting really nasty now, even without MoP buffs. Perhaps a ratio of 1 monster/walker per rhino. You can start with 0 infantry on the board and overwhelm their anti-tank.

Always 1 on the crazed roll.

Agree with the above. Lately I've been running 4x5 zerks backed up by dreads and engines. It's my fun lists but it can be pretty potent. I think the msu zeros have performed better than when I ran less units with larger sizes and fists. And now hateful assault makes these even more lethal.

In your I would probably take only 1-2 larger units to include pf and character space in the rhino.

How about a soulforged pack with a discordant and a couple of blood slaughterers?

I used to run a very similar list and you absolutely need some other distraction/threaten units.

Rhinos in todays meta are not tough and once they are popped foot slogging zerkers are horrifically fragile.

I tried combos of Knight support, 2x big bloodletter bombs behind enemy lines and a semi gunline of hellbrutes/havocs/princes rushing forward.

Mixed results overall tbh.
Most decent opponents just ignored the big threats and nuked the Rhinos anyways. if you're going to build the list OP, just be aware its quite unforgiving.
