Was it a place? A planet? A sector? A peice of equipment? Made up? Just want to know the origin of where they got the word from.

It's a variation on prime or primary.
Note that the top-level psykers produced by the telepathica astra are also called 'primaris' for this reason.

As Iocarno said, it comes from Prime. which means first, or best. (Prime Rib is thus called that because it's the best cut of rib on the cow) likewise the Prime Minister is called as such because he's the first minister. "first among equals" among the cabinet (in theory)

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

It's simply a dog-Latin corruption of the Latin "primus", meaning "first", which is the root of the French word "prime", which is loaned into English, also meaning "first".

It's because they are Cawl's Mary Sue Marines, better than all the old Marines.

It’s more like when the legal team and the marketing dept love each other very much and are aiming to please the board.

Your last point is especially laughable and comical, because not only the 7th ed Valkyrie shown dumber things (like being able to throw the troopers without parachutes out of its hatches, no harm done) - Irbis

Yes, the Rhino Primaris.

Completely unrelated, aside from how the Imperium (and GW, by extension) uses faux Latin etymology.

As others have said, Primaris is a bastardisation of the Latin "primus", which means "first", or "prime". Seeing as the things associated with the Primaris name (the Rhino Primaris, Primaris psykers, Primaris Space Marines, etc etc) are considered elite or powerful, the use of Primaris as a naming makes sense.

A Mostly Renegades and Heretics blog.
GW:"Space marines got too many options to balance, therefore we decided to legends HH units."
Players: "why?!? Now we finally got decent plastic kits and you cut them?"
Chaos marines players: "Since when are Daemonengines 30k models and why do i have NO droppods now?"
GW" MONEY.... erm i meant TOO MANY OPTIONS (to resell your army to you again by disalowing former units)! Do you want specific tyranid fighiting Primaris? Even a new sabotage lieutnant!"
Chaos players: Guess i stop playing or go to HH.

Wait they can lock threads? Anyways the new stealth mech, I don't remember seeing primaris as one of its keywords even though it is in the name. But I can check the booklet when my pre-orders come in.

it doesn't have the primaris keyword (nor is it in the name- the full name is Invictor Tactical Warsuit). None of the vehicles do (redemptor, impulsor, repulsors, invictor).

So far the primaris keyword only applies to infantry.

Efficiency is the highest virtue.
