Hi

Forgive me if this has been asked before/recently, but I couldnt see it.

I haven't bought the codex yet bc insuficient money, so I am living off of Batlescribe.

Either way, the point: The Vox Espiritum (Relic) states all Aura abilities gain +3", with the named exceptions of Psychic Powers and Litanies of Battle. I am wondering if the relic would apply to Warlord Traits, specifically in this case the Target Priority trait from the Vanguard list.

The idea is that with this relic & WLT, a Phobos Captain has a 9" re-roll 1s bubble, and a 6" +1 to hit for one unit in exchange for himself not firing.

Unless I am missing something?

Many thanks.

Target priority is not an aura. It only affects one chosen unit. Auras are continuous effects that affect every unit of a specified type within range.

Also, we have to be really careful answering questions if you say you're only using Battlescribe and don't own the rules. Dakka could get in trouble with GW if the forum was seen as a substitute for people buying the rules.

It is unclear if a warlord trait is an ability. Abilities are listed on a units datasheet. A warlord trait isnt on a units datasheet.

The fact they specifically say it affects auras other than psychic powers etc implies psychic powers can be auras. Therefore I would say the default unless we hear otherwise is that Warlord Traits can be auras.

I know this is a contentious issue for you though, and there's no need to have the debate again. So suffice it to say for the OP or anyone else reading that there is a debate, to look up old threads on what auras are, and make up your own mind.

Even if psychic powers and litanies of battle can be aura abilities nothing changes for this question. A warlord trait isnt the same as psychic powers and litanies of battle.

And regardless of what an ability actually is, this particular Warlord Trait is definitely not an aura.

I would rule any ability (not Ability) that affects all "units within x inches" to be an Aura. If it only affects one unit, that is an ability with a range, not an Aura.

Some units – usually Characters – have abilities that affect certain models within a given range. Unless the ability in question says otherwise, a model with a rule like this is always within range of the effect.

Certain models dont have to be multiple units. A unit with two models is certain models. Target priority affects certain models within a given range. So it could be an aura ability, if warlords traits are abillties, which is unclear.
