Just curious. I played at a 2v2 event with random teams yesterday.... my partner's list consisted of 35 tactical marines on foot, paired up with some sniper scouts, shooty terminators with a cyclone launcher, led by a librarian and a captain with a power sword. It is legitimately the worst army I have ever seen.

edit - I forgot, he had a squad of Devastators for anti-tank.

Can anyone top that?

Haha, so basically the foundation of what should be a space marine army......kind of a shame really.

It's truly a shame, but GW have all but decreed that nobody should use tactical marines anymore. Intercessors are just so far superior in literally every way, that playing tactical marines is only for the truly masochistic. Kinda hate how they did that... but it is what it is.

Also the way 40k rules and chapter tactics work out such a mix&match is bad anyway. specialisation all the way

I can top that. Replace the shooty termis with assault termis. They cant even shoot after deepstriking, and when they fail their charge they do nothing at all.

If you have to kill, then kill in the best manner. If you slaughter, then slaughter in the best manner. Let one of you sharpen his knife so his animal feels no pain.

I’ve played against a guy that at 2k ran pure Deathwing last year in a tournament. He ended up in last but he really likes Terminators and had a blast

yep, I'm so tempted to play this too as I'm also a big fan.

The warhound titan was played at LVO earlier this year.

I once played a team tournament where my teammate had an ultramarines army:

-Sgt Telion
-Captain Sicarius
-5x Sternguard in a las/plas razorback
-3x5 sniper scouts
-MM/Fist Dreadnought
-1 Dakkapred
-1 Whirlwind

We actually managed to win one game, I was pleased.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

I brought a stompa to a 6th edition tournament for the lulz. took a battlewagon bash plus stompas and thanks to the overcostedness of them all I had like 3 battlewagons with boyz, a stompa full of boyz, and a single bike squad. they did so terribly no wins, and mostly off the table by turn 2 or 3.

reason for runing was to answer the debate of the worst superheavy/lord of war unit at the time

So, just out of curiosity, I have no real knowledge of Titan rulesheets. Why would a warhound not do well? I mean, don't macro weapons score double hits on like a 5+, so he's killing everything he sees? Wait, just looking at one, it's only got two guns....I got it.

Yes that's the problem!

It is also abysmal as contesting objectives, especially if they are opposite sides of the table.

Can't contest objectives, and at the end of the day, only has so-many guns. You gonna spend that 400 points worth of gun on a 40-point Guard squad? Okay, fair trade. Meanwhile everything in range still wounds a Titan on a 6, so everything in the army can just dump on it and force it to eventually take a bunch of saves.

I didnt know the army well enough to know if the list itself was passable or not, but I did have one really sad 5th ed Ard Boyz matchup. The guy had pure demons in an edition where they had to roll when they came down from reserves and I think his even came down in random areas or something too, making it even worse. Basically each round only 1 lone 500pt unit of his came in right in front of my list and couldn’t charge out of DS back then either, so I easily focused it down. I even had nullzone to really rub in the hurt. Felt bad for the guy, but it won me the local heat of the event cause it gave me a like 2500-60 pt win.

In 4th or 5th I took my all Ripper list to a tournament.

Parasite of Mortrex
Malanthrope
6 full Ripper squads with Adrenal Glands,
Toxin Sacs, Spinefists
2 full Sky Slasher aquads with the same

My goal was to play for the Draw rather than the win. I usually lost, but I drew lots, which actually got me some small prizes now and then.
