Pestilent Plague Marine with Blight Grenade

Even though they are technically daemons, the mortal origins of daemon princes often allow them to exist in the materium without fading. Also, they often retain a lot of their pre-daemon personality, intelligence, and generally have more agency than that of real daemons. Given these factors, are there any examples of daemon princes possessing mortals like regular daemons can? Is it even possible?

The daemonhost cherubael in Eisenhorn was described as being a daemon prince once or twice by the inquisitor. Cherubael was bound into a human body I don’t know if that is the same thing as possession. Maybe it is but because of the bindings the creature isn’t as free to morph the body as much into a form we as gamers would recognize as a Daemon prince?

Yeah but in Eisenhorn there are civilian jetbikes... The whole series is nothing but fanfiction that shouldn't be taken into account too seriously.

The Ultramarine Movie had a daemon prince possess the marine captain iirc. After the possessed body began to decay, it sought to possess one of the main characters with the intention of getting back to Maccrage.

Of course. In the horus heresy series Samus can possess astartes.

Finally found my quote from a gym buddy born and raised in South Korea:
"It is the soldier, not the reporter who has given us the freedom of the press.
"It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech.
"It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who gives us the freedom to demonstrate.
"It is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag." |

Generally, Demon Princes are considered the Apex of the Chaos worshippers. They're functionally immortal. And are much, much easier to maintain in the physical world since they still have 1 foot in reality, and one foot in the warp. I don't see why they couldn't. However, containing a being that powerful would result in rapid, obvious mutation, bodily degeneration, and warp anomalies more likely than not.

Having ascended to deamonhood most likely grants them powers alike to those of "true" demons", so why not?
Though it's true that in term of power I think that while they are obviously less powerful than greater demons and being looked down upon for being formerly humans.

That was also Abnett, though, and one of the worst things he had ever written to boot.
I don't see why it would not be possible, though isn't your typical prince described as half-material in a lot of places? That might provide kind of impediment...

I'd forgotten about Samus, that's a good point. As to the jetbikes in Eisenhorn, couldn't that be explained by the fact that the Imperium is huge, with wide variations of technology used across different planets?

Yeah the imperium is pretty big and there will always be worlds with Hugh variations from the standard imperial tech. Don’t see why it would be weird for there to be a civilian jet bike on e one planet that was also the former Capitol world of a sector. Also wasn’t like they were jet bikes all over literally I think it’s just Eisenhorn and the guy he is chasing on one?

Demon Princes are the demons with the largest variance in power from individual to individual, you can have Demon Princes that are much more powerful than your average Greater Demon (even outside the Demon Primarchs) and much much much weaker Princes than that. it's about how powerful the ascended was when mortal and how much power their God "invest" into them.

Au secours mec encore en train de parler en anglais alors qu'on est deux français .
Seriously though, I'm not sure it is an actual metric judging by how irrational the chaos gods are: how they power their champions could well go by their whims more than by how much they deserve to be rewarded. Are their any texts or fluff pieces to state clearly so? (In which case I will eagerly acknowledge being prejudiced, of course).

In one of the previous CSM codexes you brought a greater daemon in by sacrificing an aspiring champion.
If he was in the process of transformation and in a transport his squad mates would bundle him out of it asap.
When rules were fun.
|
Please note, for those of you who play Chaos Daemons as a faction the term "Daemon" is potentially offensive. Instead, please play codex "Chaos: Mortally Challenged". Thank you. |

Civilian Imperial hover vehicles have turned up in various places. Besides, calling the series which was written to define the role of the Inquisition in the modern 40k setting "fanfiction" is missing the point massively.
My understanding is that any daemon can possess a mortal (oh, the fun of having your commander possessed by a Nurgling!), and that possession is generally how daemons manifest in the real world away from major warpspace incursions. The possessing daemon will slowly twist the flesh of the host into its own daemonic form if left long enough.
