So my question is can word bearers still take 40k 7th edition daemons as allies or do they have to take daemons of the ruinstorm now, and if you go with ruinstorm can you not take any of the unique daemon characters because they all state that they must be the armies warlord?

Can't you take named characters as generics, e.g. take Kyros Fateweaver as a generic greater deamon?

yes you are correct about that but im talking about the ruinstorm specific ones, there is samus and the nurgle dude and some other big daddy demon

It's not entirely clear and definitely something you want to ask your opponent before starting the game.

The rules explicitly state Codex: Chaos Daemons, which certainly referred to the 7th Edition Codex. However they were also written for a different Edition, before the Heresy had it's own unique ruleset and most importantly, when the Codex was actually on sale.
Now that the Codex is not compatible with the rules, and an alternative Daemon ruleset is available that is absolutely compatible, I think it's something you want to ask your opponent if they'll be happy fighting something they may never have encountered before.

Samus, Corbax and Ka'Bhanda (And Daemon Lords) are one-per-army and can only be used if Daemons make up the Primary Detachment. As said, they *must* be the Warlord.

There's a new daemon list I believe called daemons of the ruinstorm. I believe you can allie to them, the list explicitly goes into modelling and mentions its pretty loose but they want you to try and keep it consistent so like model x as lesser damons and so on. Just so it's not confusing to the opponent.

Do you play 30k? It'd be a lot cooler if you did.
