Morally-Flexible Malleus Hearing Whispers

I've searched Google and these forums, and can't find a cost vs points calculator. For instance, I was looking at the store, and 10 Intercessors cost the same as the New Invictor Warsuit, or 10 HellBlasters.
But these are all wildly different in game cost. So has anyone ever seen a ingame vs real cost breakdown of Army efficiency?
I would say for the cost the Primaris line is actually pretty effective.

Custodes is probably among the most efficient, while Guard and Orks are among the least.

Heavily depends on loadout with some armies. Vanguard veterans with chainsword/bolt pistol are totally different animal than shield/hammer ones.
Even with primaris, say Inceptors with plasma and bolters have two very different prices. Etc, etc...

Guardsmen are pretty bad, at around 1 point per dollar.
A box of Custodian Guard, if assembled as 3 Custodians, 1 Shield Captain, and 1 Stickman totals up to about 400 points for $60, so about 6.5 points per dollar, which is pretty good.

Guardsmen, hear me! Cadia may lie in ruin, but her proud people do not! For each brother and sister who gave their lives to Him as martyrs, we will reap a vengeance fiftyfold! Cadia may be no more, but will never be forgotten; our foes shall tremble in fear at the name, for their doom shall come from the barrels of Cadian guns, fired by Cadian hands! Forward, for vengeance and retribution, in His name and the names of our fallen comrades! |

Their troops box is essentially a start collecting box, because when they were first released they didn't have characters [there was a box of 1 Land Raider, 1 Rhino, 1 Dreadnought, 1 Squad of Custodian Guard, and 1 Squad of Sisters of Silence that formed their first mainstream release, though it was preceded by their appearance in one of the 30k boxed games like 2 months before]. On release it was just a squad of 5-10 IIRC, with the Shield Captain as the sergeant and an option to buy a guy a stick. When the codex, they split the sergeant and the stickman into being characters, and reduced squad size to 3, which is why the the basic troops box is effectively a start collecting box now.

it's honestly nto a bad idea, I'd not be opposed to seeing them do that with other units put out

Knights and Custodes are most efficient.

You could make a really cheap marine army too if you just bought 5 Dev cen boxes and gave them all lascannons and rockets + Calgar and a LT. LOL.

The Marine Standing Behind Marneus Calgar

Marines have always been pretty solid for cash to points, but it is very list/load out dependent. It helps a LOT that there are normally a good number of bundle box deals that you can take advantage of. The old betrayal at Calth box was a solid playable 1,250 point army in one box.
I crunched the numbers once in my blog to see how far the money I got from selling the last of my M:tG cards went. I’d have to dig for them, but IIRC I got better returns for marines than eldar, but they were around the $4-5 per point range. This was 6th-7th ed.

The GW Store page still has a custodian forces box for like $600, it's all their models in their book, and like 3-4 guard squads, with 2 Ven Naughts. About 4k points. About 5-7 points per dollar.

Minor quibble, but that's not a "box"--it's a "bundle".
The "bundles" never save you anything, while the boxes do.

Not that I would ever have the restraint to save up $600 for anything, box or bundle, that GW puts out. I don't care if they threw in a free Telemon, I don't have 600 to spend on a bunch of crap that will likely never see the table (LOOKING AT YOU LANDRAIDER AND VENERABLE DREADNAUGHT!)

It gets pretty bad depending on the model.
Over £1 per point is the worst I've seen. [One Inquisitorial Acoylte can be £10, for an 8pt model.]
Imperial Guard work out around 50p per point. The more randomly niche you get, the worse it tends to be. Stuff like Sisters of Battle [Old Metal models for a hoard army] comes out the worse.
It's definately changed over the years though, deals that used to be good get broken down and replaced with more points per model.
Expect to spend at least a grand for 2k points. [Don't forget the paint the glue, the spray, the flocking, the brushes, and the board to play with it on!]

They're $80 for 10 @9ppm, but the squad box also comes with a stick, a meltagun, and a storm bolter, so that's like 1.5 points per dollar US spent.

I don't agree with the grand per 2k. I always start an army basically buying the first 2k all at once and then supplement it with stuff later. It can easily be done for 650-750 tbh some armies will obviously cost more then a g but I don't feel like there average.
(My price is is cad so it would be less even with us dollar).
