I have not played with Necrons in 8th edition, I am playing against a friend that plays Eldar and Space marines
I'm looking for feedback on which units are good/bad and why, I haven't play with this codex at all.

Well, the most successful Necron lists these days use Doomsday Arks and Doom Scythes.

I own 2 Doom Scythes, but no doomsday arks,
I just happened to get a really good deal on destroyers so I have lots of them.
Maybe Ill use some doom scythes instead of anni barges?

Indeed, doom scythes are tactically more flexible than the barges and have better weaponry.

What about Imotekh?
He is my favourite character but Sautekj doesn't seem very good

Imotekh is ok. Sautekh is actually a good dynasty.

Check out the necron tactics thread. First post has ratings for units. No need to read everything. Going back 100 pages from the last page should be good enough

This was similar to the list everyone took when the Codex first dropped. The destroyer normally die without any chance for RP and they cost too much for their damage output.

It will be a fun list, but as far as comp meta goes its triple Sycthe and Trip DDA with immortals.

I've noticed that,
I used to play in 6th edition where I spammed flyers and took annihilation barges, and so my models reflect that,
Only own 3 tomb blades, but I got an insane deal on some destroyers so I have almost 20...
Ive been reading a lot about destroyers being good but not a spam type unit,
Barges seem overcosted
So my army seems to be fairly limited,
I could do a warrior spam list as I have over 80 warriors,
also have lots of scarabs so I could also take lots of those

I'm more leaning towards something like this


imotekh
overlord

tesla immortals
tesla immortals
Big blob of warriors

scarabs scarabs scarabs
destroyers destroyers

and 2 doom scythes

Ill prob play a few smaller games with a friend tonight to try them out

but this is what I'm leaning towards based on what I own now

Imotekh is an overlord, having two makes no sense. Get a cryptek or a lord. Also you need a third doom scythe to get access to ATD, excellent stratagem for 3 flying croissants.

I just checked out that stratagem, seems really good,
and yes I will be taking a cryptek not the overlord, don't know what I was thinking, thanks
