I’m in the US, obviously.

I’ll be heading to Walmart tomorrow. I’ve heard good things about automotive primers. Any recommendations for stuff that won’t drown the details?I’ll be painting Tempestus Scions.

Any recommendations for sealing? I’ve heard of using both the shiny and the matte together. I’ve also heard of just using a couple layers of matte.

If the truth can destroy it, then it deserves to be destroyed.

Wal-Mart's house brand of spray paint makes pretty good primer and is very cheap, so you should be fine with that.

As far as varnish, I'd stick with hobby-oriented brands. If you want a rattlecan spray, Testor's Dullcote was my go-to when I used spray varnish.

If you want brush-on or have an airbrush, Pledge floor gloss works as a dirt cheap and highly effective gloss varnish, followed by AK Interactive Matte or Ultra Matte to dull it.

Having said that, the thing about gloss followed by matte comes from a myth that gloss is more protective, when in reality they're the same product just with or without a small amount of matting agent. The only reason I recommend two different products above is that hobby acrylic varnishes (like the AK Interactive) tend to provide next to no protection, while the Pledge is nearly bulletproof once fully dried. If you just buy a can of Dullcote, do two coats and you're good to go.

Near Jupiter.

I use some thing called " Quick color", its cheapest spray on the shelf and works fine.

Thanks! I didn’t know that was a myth.

I love Painter's Choice 2X Paint and Primer. I keep white and gray on hand and use them on everything. It even seems to handle Contrast paints, although I haven't experimented much. Cant offer anything on sealer, though.
