Hello there.

I've recently got back into the hobby after approximately 25 years away from it - the last game I actually played was Man O' War.

Suddenly had an urge to get back into it after finding Jan 2019 issue of White Dwarf on a market stall, and it brought back so many good memories. That, coupled with the WH40K Legends novel collection partwork, which I've managed to catch up with in the last 6 months (now just have to find time to start reading them!) has really got me interested again.

I've bought Blackstone Fortress as a gateway back in - I have a board game night with friends every 6 weeks that I'm going to try and slot this into, but the fact that you can play solo was a big plus too.

I never painted miniatures when I was playing in my teens - I was too intimidated by both my arty best friend, who painted all my Advanced Heroquest figures for me, and the Golden Demon awards when we went in the early 90's. But now I figure that the only person that will judge my painting is me, why not go for it!

Looking forward to being a part of the forums going forward.

Hi there, welcome back.

Do you know what you want to get more involved in? Blackstone models have downloadable rules on the GW website for use in 40k, I think.

Thanks guys.

There's datasheets for the Blackstone minis in the box - it's all a far cry from when I played a little 40k over 25 years ago however. I was more into Blood Bowl and Man O' War at the time.

However, I picked up the Core Rules books for both 40k and AoS on eBay a few months ago - more for the lore and the artwork to be honest, so haven't actually looked at the rules sections yet.

Apart from that, I'm planning on starting out by having a go at painting these and playing it with my board game group, then maybe start looking at 40k, or perhaps Kill Team. Some of my old friends that I used to do D&D with are still mates on Facebook and seem pretty active with 40k, and I do like the look of the Start Collecting Thousand Sons box.

I'm just worried as stated above that this could end up very expensive very quickly! Soul I don't mind losing - money I'm more concerned about!

(Oh, and I'm in the UK, not the US, despite the flag!)

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka
