Had a very fun little game last night vs space wolves. I had 2 lists lined up, but ultimately brought the dreadbash as he had asked what army I was playing and alarm bells started ringing.

Lesson 1: Never try to tailor against orks!

My List:
Spoiler:

Dread Waaagh!, Deffskulls
KFF Megamek
SSAG Mek

WAAGH! banner nob, PK, kustom shoota

3 x 10 gretchin

3 Deff Dreads, all with 2 KMB
3 Deff Dreads, all with 2 KMB
5 Killa Kans; 2 RL, 3 Grotzookas

His List:
Spoiler:

Bjorn the fell handed (who dressed in the dark today)*
Primaris Battle Captain w/ power axe and bolter

5 primaris marines
5 primaris marines
5 primaris marines

3 heavy primaris dudes with double flamers
3 heavy primaris dudes with double flamers

1 repulsor with minigun, bigger minigun, 2 stubbers, 2 stormbolters, twin lascannon
1 redemptor dreadnaught with big minigun, flamer, frag missile thingys.

*He forgot Bjorn, so I lent him a spare killa kan to stand in!

As you can see, he tailored hard against infantry. Time for some Krumpin'!

We rolled the mission with 1 objective in your deployment zone, dawn of war deployment. he had 1 less unit than me so he got turn 1.

He deployed bunched up, I deployed over 2/3 of my line so that I could catch the repulsor if it made a run for it.

His turn 1 he stays still, and kills 7 grots (the 3 remaining ran away) and a killa kan.

My turn 1 I move & advance as fast as possible, except with 2 dreads who lurk at 24" range next to my objective, and with the kans who wouldn't be able to zooka if they advance. Opening salvo kills:
1 primaris on his flank
the redemptor dreadnaught (yay!)
5 wounds off the repulsor (SSAG got 9 S9 shots!)

His turn 2, he continues to not move. return fire chips some wounds off some dreads, and brings one down to 2 wounds left. Flamer-hulks move to screen bjorn and his primaris buddies. (this is the picture below, the only one I thought to get!)

My turn 2, SSAG and KMB's manage to kill the repulsor and the 3 screening flamer dudes. Kans kill the 4 primaris left on the flank with rokkits and zookas. Charging in 2 dreads manages to almost kill bjorn, who then blows up a deff dread, which takes a wound off one flamer dude, 2 wounds off bjorn (3 left!) and 1 off the other dread.

His turn 3, the dread in CC with bjorn gets killed by powerfist-death from the 3 remaining flamer dudes. doesn't explode. 1 grot dies to primaris shooting.

My turn 3, 2 dreads and the waaagh! banner nob charge bjorn. last 3 flamer dudes die to the SSAG. kans chip bjorn down to 1 wound. I burn dakkadakka and shoot twice on a dread because I've used 1CP this game, and that to become a dread waaagh!. Bjorn dies, doesn't explode. Primaris battle captain heroicly intervenes, and fights twice, to scratch the deff dreads paint a little.

Turn 4 my opponent, with 6 models left, conceded.

I felt a little bad as my deff dread list (which was just to see what deff dreads can do!) seemed perfectly tailored against him - minimal D1 weaponry, very little infantry. everything he had, bar a couple, wounded dreads on 5's.
If I had brought my other army list, though (120 boys, 2 weirdboys, KFF, Warboss), it would have been the opposite - his army would have lunched mine.

What I've learnt:
Deff dreads with twin KMB and deffskulls work well at low points with an abundance of armour to mix with. I suspect they wouldn't do so well in a more balanced army.
multi-wound weaponry is amazing and I want at least 3 sources of it in any list. Rokkits are great vs primaris.

Got to decide what unit I want to trial next! Thinking Bikers, perhaps. Or Battlewagons.

Once I've made some, I also want to trial Squiggoths and Stormboys (separately, in all likelihood!)
