Hey all, we are toying around with a house rule to make Centigors more viable. For clarification we are playing 8th ed and friendly games at that. We allow Dogs of War and Storm of Magic. We are thinking of counting Centigors as Fast Cav but since they are Drunk they won't be able to Vanguard.

As they are, given the low armour save they don't fill a heavy cav role. With the high point cost and lack of mobility they don't really fill a light cave role either. Statwise Centigors aren't too different than Marauder Horsemen but the cost is vastly different. The best reason to make them Fast Cav is that they can take Throwing Axes, but that makes them 27pts each. That is an expensive Fast Cav, but it can fill a role the army doesn't have. Now 27pts for a regular cave is a bit over priced.

At a base cost of 25 a Centigor is the same as an Empire Inner Circle Knight, with a drastically worse armour save. So apart from it being a house rule anyone see a major issue with making them Fast Cav? Thoughts, concerns?

Not really any issue, especially if you're finding them inadequate compared to other lists' equivalents. Could also try toying with making their save a touch better.
