Welcome to Ultramarines

The simple answer is more Troops.

Looking at your list i'm feeling that the tactical squad is wasted going in a drop pod as a sacrificial unit. Maybe take a unit of Sternguard instead and have them as an anti tank unit with combi-plasma or combi-melta.

The Redemptor Dread is an ok unit these days. But upstaged by the new Invictus Warsuit (the space marine emotional suppport dreadnought!). Consider maybe taking 2 for target saturation.

Take more intercessors and take Impulsor transports?

Thanks for the feedback, so next I'll be buying another box of intercessors definitely, then maybe some stern guard. what do you think of the dev squads? Like 2 5 man squads 1 with 4 las and Sgt 1 with 4 heavy bolter and Sgt? And are any heavy tanks worth taking? Thanks again

Dev squads are always useful. I've always used them as heavy weapons (lascannon / gravcannon) rather than heavy bolter luggers.

Tanks.......it depends. If it fits in with what you're trying to do then great.

For example Repulsor is an excellent tank and can transport your Primaris.....but is also a big target.

You want as many units as possible so that any enemy fire is spread out among those units to lessen casualties.

As far as your list goes...

Is this what you actually have assembled already or what you are thinking about getting

Dreads will always be better than Predators IMO due to CC ability and the fact they are walkers.

Vindicators are vindicators. a Str 10 cannon surrounded by a predator hull. sometimes good, sometimes a glass cannon.

Land Raiders.

Land Raiders are the only useful tank left to normal Space Marines. It's a land raider, it works. Decide which variant and what you'll fill it with..

Repulsor....same except it's Primaris only

Ah okay I see, the list is what iv built and painted so far, just ready to buy my next unit to add to the list, so far I'm thinking another intercessor squad, repulser tank and maybe a sternguard squad?

Remember there is a strategem to half the damaga a dread takes, if its a "proper dread" and (I think invictors are not).
So you are quite able to buy a solid little veteran dread of some sort, even the one comes in the marine start box, would work, and give it a mix of gun and melee capabilities and call it a distraction carnifax. Be careful to leave it where even a dread can draw cover from ruins or something, AND where the enemy can shoot it -- then pop that strategem and watch your opponent fire a bunch of the guns that would otherwise be available to start chewing through marine bodies all over the board.

If you have a proper melee dread, you go 80 points more for the lucius drop pod and load the basic droppod up with just company veterans (*storm shield, a couple TH, and some nice short range weaponry like meltas or such") ... Now you have not just a distraction carnifax, but you can start the game by plopping two drop pods right in your opponents face -- and the dreadnaught (1/2 damage) can act to absorb overwatch for the storm shield ... ok, maybe the storm shields can act to do it for the dreadnaught. Either way you have three charges to roll that could mess someone's day, as well as the tactical flexibility that those guys starting in drop pods brings.
Again, I ain't a marine guy, but this seems like a great "vanilla marine" alternative to the new invictor spam stuff (note that invictor spam is downright cool, too, of course. You could probably do worse than have a couple of them, too, to throw at the foe immediate like.)

(Per Dakka rules you might want to edit out the wargear costs)

Look at the stratagems and think about what you need to make them work. Obviously you can’t use them all in the same list (barring massive point games) but they can help steer your list building to give you more options on the tabletop.

One example is include some infantry HB/MLs. Mortal wounds can be key, and those starts can win games at the right time. You can slap them both into a dev squad, or distribute them in tacs/scouts. But have a few on the table.

With that Cent squad you might want to consider an apothecary and/or and ancient. Standing up one of these guys again or letting him unload an extra time is not trivial.

Melta bombs are not worth it these days IMHO. I still have a number modeled on guys, but just treat them like decoration now and don’t pay the points for them. ML/F is a classic loadout, and I still field tacs that way out of pure nostalgia. MLs are not bad, but flamers got worked over hard with a lot of the 8th ed changes.

You need more AV firepower. And one more troop.

Your dread is the only real vehicle in your list. It’s going to eat every lascanon on the other side of the table turn one. Armor saturation will help with that. Give them more targets than they can kill, and make them divide their fire. So for adding AV, I’d probably grab another dread and maybe a quad las pred. Razorbacks are also good.

Dev squads are good. ML/HB/2xLC packs a lot of AV and opens up MW strats. I’m itching to try a quad grav squad in a drop pod coming in turn 2. The UM tac super doctrine opens up a lot of options.

Dfeinitrly more AV

Dev squad is easiest way to do that , but whatever you take just think about what you need that unit to do.

could change the 5 man squad of intercessors to incursors and have them set up behind enemy lines

Ah lads thanks for the info, it's really helpful! I have just ordered a repulser and a squad of stern guard for the drop pod (so maybe get rid of the tac squad?) Then after they are built and painted will have to Buy more intercessors and probs another set of stern guard so I can put 10 in the pod, and by the sounds of it a Dev squad is on the cards.

Then I was thinking maybe dropping the tac squad so that would be - 155 making it 1429 and maybe add another intercessor squad making it 1628
