So now there are Knights for the "goodies" and the "Baddies", its inevitable that the orks would do something similar.
What do people think to an orky Knights codex, which revolves around Dreads, megadreads, stompas, gargants, and some intermediate knight-sized units as well?
I personally think that it would be brilliant!
Thoughts?

A Mostly Renegades and Heretics blog.
GW:"Space marines got too many options to balance, therefore we decided to legends HH units."
Players: "why?!? Now we finally got decent plastic kits and you cut them?"
Chaos marines players: "Since when are Daemonengines 30k models and why do i have NO droppods now?"
GW" MONEY.... erm i meant TOO MANY OPTIONS (to resell your army to you again by disalowing former units)! Do you want specific tyranid fighiting Primaris? Even a new sabotage lieutnant!"
Chaos players: Guess i stop playing or go to HH. |

It'd certainly be nice, but I doubt we'll see it happen. GW don't like to pay too much attention to us Xenos (unless you're a space elf).

Pointless, almost no one would buy it or the models thus no return on investment.

Dreadmob has been a thing in both the fluff and the rules for a lot of 40k history.
Didn't IA:8 sell well? Used it still goes for a good chunk of money dispute not having rules useable in the current edition.
I do think that one of the main reasons Knights are viable is their access to so many stratagems, warlord traits, relics, etc.
I think that if we see supplements for xenos like we've seen for Space Marines then it might be cool for Orks to get books for Dread Mob, Kult of Speed, Blitz Brigade, etc. rather than Clan supplements.

I'd rather see a more... utilitarian codex for orks. Ork freebooterz or something.

Why not both?
Yes it'd be a great idea and is the only way to make our walkers in any way close to as competitive as imperial counterparts.
I'd also like to see 'codex:speed freaks', 'codex:freebootaz' and 'codex:feral Orks'.

That would be pretty great, although in regards to feral orks they might need to have a release to go along with it unless they bring in Forge World.
I have some tiny hope that we'll see a new Greenskinz army in AoS that doubles as 40k feral orks. Probably won't happen though.

I feel like this would be better represented by a specialist detachment like the Dread WAAAGH! that currently exists in Vigilus Defiant, but rework the stratagems, relic and WL trait so it actually does something that promotes you taking walkers and not just the SAG Mek for the relic.
They have to fix Kanz first rules wise and the Deff Dreadz in terms of weapons so that a Deff Dread can actually do stuff outside of CC (short of deffskulls with KMB). Gorkanaut and Morkanauts just need a little more oomph from the detachment to make them jive better with their lesser cousins. The relic for the detachment really should be the Mega Kustom Force Field that gives off a 4++ invuln save bubble instead. Make the Warlord Trait have friendly "Dread WAAAGH!" keyword vehicles within 6" to re-roll failed hit rolls against enemy vehicles and monsters. Stratagems wise, I could see the useless one involving the Mekshop being replaced with "Supa-Kanz", where you spend 1 CP on a unit of Killa Kanz before deployment to give them access to the Klan Kultur of the detachment they are a part of, regardless of them having the Gretchin Keyword, and making them take morale tests on a D3 instead.

I'd love a revamp of the Dreadmob as a codex/supplement. The IA list was great, even if the centerpiece mek stompa was only viable by the grace of a glorious typo (and it's not like it was insane, even with that).
I've got twenty dreads, a half dozen 'naughts, and a stompa that could really use an outing. Until then, though, I'm just planning on running them as knights (either flavor) so that I can actually play with my toys and have a shot at winning. Dreads make perfectly good armigers (I just need to finish my conversions for the new FW weapons so things are distinctive), 'naughts are pretty obvious parallels for knights (the ones that aren't straight up looted knights to start with, anyway), and the stompa plays the role of an acastus if I feel like bringing one. I've got spare arms in the works to make everybody wysiwyg adjacent, so a big kannon and giant gatling gun on the "warden", klaw-fist and turbo choppa-sword on the "gallant", stupid-huge burna and spear chukka on the "valiant" (who's a looted dominus class, anyway), etc.
Big? Check. Stompy? Check. Dakka? Check (with targeting squigs, grot assisted guns, and "extra shots" to explain the BS). What isn't there to love?
Well, maybe something to use my kan swarm and grot tanks as, but I'll take what I can get.
