This charming little bit of heresy will drive purists nuts, but it was fun for me.
The other day my son and I had a heavily proxied Empire v Dark Elves match. I was in a goofy mood, so I thought it would be fun to pull out some figs I hadn't used for awhile
So Voila! Presenting my (Swedish) Empire troops:

General GARS (2 points if you get the reference):

His army standard:

His adjutant - Catpain Blackadder

His 2IC - Captain Steelhands

Two Gun Callahan - the witch hunter

D.C. Kowf - Engineer Sniper (2 more points for guessing meaning behind acronym)

The Blue Dragon - a great cannon. Dude on the far right is the engineer

The Red Menace - again, dude on far right is engineer

Warrior Priest and his familiar "Boy the Possessed Poodle"

Imperial Knights (pistols count as great weapons):

Outriders with repeating handguns:

Three units of pistoliers: The blue regiment, the green regiment & the grey regiment

The Handgunners: Old Blue, Old Yeller, The Reds & the Mountain boys:

They gave a good account of themselves and drove the Dark Elves off with very little problem. Old Blue had the best volley. Striking down 10 figs in one shot.

Of course, no self-respecting empire list in complete without a steam tank. I have one, just didn't take a picture of it.

Very nice! Me and my brother wish to do something a bit similar with Caroleans. Don't mind the purists, this hobby is one of creativity and own vision.

General GARS is a reference to Eric Flint's 1632 universe, I'm guessing. The army seems fine to me, I'm not sure why it would cause outrage.

I am not sure where I read it first, but
GARS is an alias he used once:
Gustavus Adolphus Rex Sueciae

And of course:
D.C. Kowf = Davy Crockett, KIng of the Wild Frontier

That's probably where Mr. Flint got it. Long story short: in the book if Gustavus Adolphus showed up as "King of Sweden" certain protocol (and more importantly, certain political) factors would complicate the situation. So he called himself Captain GARS, and encouraged everyone else he was negotiating with to follow suit. Since this is between allies, everyone played along, and everyone was happy, except their enemies when they found out about the semi-clandestine meeting. Basically, no one in Europe was fooled by the Captain GARS nom de guerre, (at least in Flint's 1632).
