I am playing space wolves and currently have one redemptor dread and a regular dread. I have read that the redemptor dread is best with the two gatling guns. Was wondering about the best set up for the regular dread. Was also wondering if those two would work well together.

Twinlas+Missile Venerable, probably.

Guardsmen, hear me! Cadia may lie in ruin, but her proud people do not! For each brother and sister who gave their lives to Him as martyrs, we will reap a vengeance fiftyfold! Cadia may be no more, but will never be forgotten; our foes shall tremble in fear at the name, for their doom shall come from the barrels of Cadian guns, fired by Cadian hands! Forward, for vengeance and retribution, in His name and the names of our fallen comrades!

I was looking at trying to decide if I should make the dread a regular or a venerable, there doesn't seem to be much of a difference in the model itself.

You can go Twin Autocannons on the Ven Dread too. Depends on how the Legends thing or Index goes though.

Otherwise the only real way to use the a Dread in codex is gun platform Ven Dread.

Indeed - what sort of bastard would want to use their codex?

Best setup currently for regular dread is as a venerable with twin lascannons and missile launcher or autocannons. However, I personally don't mind paying for the ccw melee arm if I'm regularly facing melee armies. All depends on meta and the rest of your list.

Modelwise, no real difference. Rules wise though....

Twin AC is an index option on the regular dread too.

The ven dread does bring a lot to the table for 20 more points, but with all the rerolls regular dreads still do alright if you can't spare the points.
