Vallejo has plenty of great dark greys.

Quick...from top of my head:

Game Color extra opaque heavy charcoal
Model Color German grey
Model Color Black Grey

These are very dark near black greys, how dark do you want them?

Hi thanks again for this, tried the Heavy Charcoal and German Grey, honestly I cannot tell the difference colour wise, so will go with the Charcoal as its supposidly more opaque and Im using it as a base coat.

No problem, glad to help.

I believe you're misunderstanding what Vallejo has said about the Extra Opaque paints:

Extra Opaque Game Color: A series of extra opaque colors are included in the range; they cover all primers and bases in one coat. These high opacity colors contain more pigment and are less fluid than the regular Game Color series.

They have better coverage than the other Game Coor paints, but they're not any better than the Model Color paints (which use a different formulation than the Game Color paints) because the Extra Opaques use the same formulation as the Model Color paints. In fact, the Extra Opaques are just relabeled versions of existing Model Color paints.

From my experience, I own almost all opaques and gak ton of model color paints, is that opaques have just a bit more pigment in it, well it feels that way.
Yes they say is the same formulation as model color. They are ment to be base colors for the designed tone but with a maximum coverage, I like them a lot.

I knew that, I read that before, but pigmentation feels really high in those. Maybe they specially selected the ones that are very opaque.
Also some colors are unique and are not available in model color range, like heavy warm grey and heavy orange.

To me when they say "... the Model Color formula was used..." that doesn't mean that they changed it by adding extra pigments, etc.

And as far as I can tell, Heavy Warm Grey should be VMC 70.988 Khaki and Heavy Orange should be VMC 70.805 German Orange.

Prolly they didn't change it but they feel thicker. I'm in the middle of a project and I just used heavy charcoal which I put a 6mm steinless bead and
during shakiing it's hardly moving...

Oh, heavy warm grey is nothing like khaki it's a purplsh sking tone and the heavy orange is a rosy orange but more saturated than german orange.

Yes, according to Vallejo heavy charcoal is black but It's not...it's a warmer dark grey but definitely not black and regarding German Grey I'd say is a bit colder.
Those charts are offen very misleading, in game color chart comparison it says that opaque heavy red is equivalent to MC red leather but in fact they are
nothing alike, one is a darker red the other is an orangy brown.

The picture is not perfect and it's not 100% accurate but the difference is very obvious...black vs. heavy charcoal.
