I ask if anyone thinks there is any hope that this might make a comeback or if it likely to abandoned? I noticed that GW no longer offers the Null-Maiden Rhino which makes me think they are throwing in the towel..

They are getting an Index Imperialis article in the next White Dwarf. The Null-Maiden Rhino is just the same Rhino as the marine one, as far as I’m aware.

Ehhhhh, I mean theoretically in a campaign phase called "Psychic Awakening" you would assume they would have more of a role given their occupation as an anti-psyker contingent. But GW rarely does anything with rules nowadays that doesn't come alongside a model release, so at best they're getting the assassins treatment with the WD rules. They might a slight touch up rules wise, mainly the addition of a few stratagems and how they work alongside other Imperial detachments. As an actual standalone faction? I think highly unlikely, mainly because they're not marines and they are a very specialized army type which makes it hard for them to more depth without stepping on the toes of other Imperial Factions.

Recognizing that they're not a standalone faction called "Sisters of Silence" but rather part of "Astra Telepathica" would go a long way towards "hope".

Eh I thought it was very odd that they didn't roll them in with Custodes. For an army which has 1 model from GW and 1 upgrade pack and 1 unique vehicle from FW (both of which are "Horus Heresy limited) they are in a very odd place.
Gw seems keen to keep them as a "force" of their own, but at the same time I think the most likely thing is that GW either retires the kit after years of teasing or they roll them into another army.
And yes their rhino and landraider were just the regular versions painted gold.

They are spice, not an actual army.
You can throw them into another army (SoB are a great home) for some anti-psyker units when you feel like it, but its not something intended for tournament TAC lists, but more for campaigns and narrative games.

Indeed, they should have released the codex as Talons of the Emperor with Sisters added in. The army could have really used the extra units to bulk it out somewhat without having to resort to FW strait away.
As it stands, I would consider them dead.

Here's my theory:
The upcoming WD article is meant to lay a more solid foundation for the SoS than the index. It won't contain any new units, but it will be a significant update- hopefully we'll get some strats. But the reason it's necessary is that they want to add something as part of Psychic Awakening. An HQ choice that makes SoS Troops would be really easy way to make it playable; if the HQ was generic, you could actually field a mono battalion.
The combined WD article and PA content would then be combined into a dex. I suspect it will be an Imperial Agents Dex which will includes all the units in the free Apocalypse datacard download. If they go this way, we will also see an Inquisition WD article sometime before the dex.
But the other possibility is an Astra Telepathica Dex, which you've got to admit is a mad fit for PA.
Something else to keep in mind: the Null Maidens rule in the Imperium 2 Index FAQ allows you to field three units of SoS as a Vanguard without an HQ. You don't get any CP, but that's not a big deal because a Vanguard is only worth 1CP.
Personally, I want to stack Greyfax, a Cullexus and three SoS units and seriously burn some witches! Greyfax's double deny, an its +1 bonus, plus her Condemnor boltgun and ability to snipe psykers make her the best witch hunter in the Inquisition. The a psychic within range of all 3 SoS would get -3 to deny Greyfax and on their own psychic tests, and if the Cullexus is in the mix, that becomes -5! And if you need to go after 2 sets of psykers, the group can split into two smaller forces and still be utterly lethal.

You don't need an HQ choice.
There is one. It's the Primaris Psyker.

I really wish they'd allow SoS, LotD and Inquisition to be added to
Imperial armies as legal battle field role options, without the main forces faction bonus's being removed, other than the new codex ones that require a completely mono list.
For SoS, there are some loyalist factions that really do need anti psycher options, EX: Ad-mech, etc....

I get why the SoS are part of Astra Telepathica- the service they provide does help the organization. But given the effect SoS have on psykers, I don't see them working side by side with psykers. They work FOR the AT, not within it kinda thing, though I just reread their index, and at least Psychic Abomination only affects Enemy psykers,
The rule I'd like Inquisitors to have would be similar to Ynnari; they CAN join any Imperial detachment without messing it up, but they can also choose to take control of the detachment and confer their Ordo Keyword upon all of the other units in their detachment, conferring Ordo abilities and strategems in lieu of (or possibly in addition to) the original abilities and strategems for those units.

They came out because 30k was taking off and then GW decided to make 40k rules for them just because.
No, I wouldn't hold my breath for any further support than what they're going to get in the upcoming White Dwarf.
Even if they did get support, all the xenos/chaos players would come out of the woodworks to complain about "another Imperium faction"

Codex Custodes says hello
although you're right that if they where made into a faction the xenos players would complain.

Probably not that much, Its another faction GW kinda just put out with out any effort. I kind of wonder if the intention was to sorta replace Sisters in some out of touch persons mind at GW.
But, You sound way more Salty than the Xenos and Chaos players do about things People are grumpy, its understandable at this point for a lot of players.

Were Sisters of Silence released during the last days of the Kirby era? That end time GW seemd to go a bit nuts for lots of sub-armies getting niche builds. AoS was the height of it, but we also saw more of this niche army thing building into 40K. Armies like Tyranids getting sub-fleets within their codex and suchlike.
I think there was an attitude at GW of that era to introduce more smaller armies. So instead of supporting a handful of bigger forces; instead support a wider range of smaller ones.

Take it out on the fluff then.
Because the whole purpose of a force like that is when a powerful Psyker takes to the field, if they decide to be done with that whole "being a mortal" thing...the Nulls just shut their powers down and commence beating them silly.
