In all of your opinions, what is the most competitive loyalist terminator loadout in the game now that we have the latest space marine codex released? I understand terminators are not considered to be competitive in their own right, but for someone who loves the miniatures and would like to include them in semi competitive games without handicap.

Terminators got a lot more viable in SM 2.0.

The relevant buffs they got
Doctrines
Chaplain Litanies (specifically the +2 to charge)
Fury of the first
Enhanced Chapter Tactics
Transhuman Physiology
Bolter Discipline

I've been running TH/SS assault terminators as kind of a joke for about 4 games now. (3 of those were a RTT that I ended up winning) and they never made MORE then there points back in direct damage, but they always forced my opponent to sink all of his army for a battle round, which was crucial for the rest of my army.

But honestly, in my head the most potent terminators are just a 10 man standard shooty terminator squad. Deepstrike turn 2 with tactical doctrine active, blow something away with 40 ap-1 bolter shots hitting on 2's because of Fotf. Charge with a +2 because a chaplain is nearby with canticles of hate (give him a JP, keep him on board T1, he has a 30+2d6 aura range factoring two turns of movement and advancing) pop Fotf again and have 31 PF attacks hitting on 3's. Pile in 6" due to canticles of hate, then consolidate another 6" meaning that you can now tie down whatever was being screened. Possibly fight again if you need to. If your terminators survive the ensuing return fire, teleport homer them out to deny your opponent finishing the squad.

It's expensive, but I love that sort of multi-role potential and pressure

Thanks to you, Vilehydra, I re-read the canticle and indeed I realised that this is the only canticle for which you don't have to pick an unit at the begining of the turn but that works as long as your are within 6" of the chaplain when you declare a charge.
That changes everything !

I'm similar in my love for terminators and have run a 5 man tactical terminator squad in a couple of games.

Running as an ultra successor with Master Artisans for the re-rolls and the +1 Advance/charge traits.

Dropdown when the tactical doc is activated a pump out 20 AP-1 shots at 24", fire off the cyclone without the penality to hit from moving then declare a charge against a unit close by only needing an 8.

All that for 200pts, a really versatile deepstriking unit that can murder infantry and threaten anything that it charges, add to that its reasonable toughness at least against small arms fire (especially in cover) and I think they're looking pretty good.

Bolter disciple, the extra attack on the first round and the tactical doc bonuses have all benefited them greatly.

40,000pts
8,000pts
3,000pts
3,000pts
6,000pts
2,000pts
1,000pts
:deathwatch: 3,000pts
:Imperial Knights: 2,000pts
:Custodes: 4,000pts

White Scars terminators look super fun with dual LCs. Scars have the tools to make a charge very reliably from Reserves – Ride the Winds gives them +2″ to their charge distances, and the Fierce Rivalries stratagem gives them the ability to roll 3D6 and discard the lowest when making their roll for charge distance. Add in the option of a CP re-roll and that’s an extremely reliable charge out of Deep Strike. If they hit while Assault Doctrine is active they will pretty much murder almost anything in the game. Put 'em next to Kor'sarro's aura and you'll be happy even if they need to drop down Turn 2.

This, but with the TH/SS outfit instead. T3 is too unreliable to try and get that D2 bonus.

Best way IMO is to just run a min 5 man unit with PF CB. Deep strike onto objective or deep strike and charge or in some situations just start on the table and pump out bolter shots. They aren't super terrible. About as durable as intercessors per point that don't shoot as well but do better in CC vs big targets.

Thanks everyone, I'm trying to give my Iron Hands gunline a little more dimension which is unfortunate for terminators as I won't be leaving the devastator doctrine anytime soon. However a squad of 5 with chain fists and the assault cannon look appealing to drop in on an objective.

Well in that case Throwing in a TML just makes sense.

Stay away from Assault Cannons would be my recommendation.

Going to a GT and going to be bringing a 10 - man squad. Not equipped the way I particularly want but I have very limited time to try and retool what I need because it was short notice.

Running a 10 man with/
8 PF
1 CF
1 PS
10 SB
2 Cyclones

Again not necessarily what I'd want on the terminators, the 2 cyclones make the squad almost as expensive as the assault terminators, but I'll report back on they perform.
