I'm looking to build a Legion of the Damned army, but since their gene-seed is not usable anymore due to the funky effects of the warp, I was wondering if it would still be possible to bring in new marines with fresh gene-seed stock and fight with the Legion of the Damned as one. Fire Hawks have been strongly hinted that they are one and the same with the Legion of the Damned. Some chapters, like the Imperial Fists, have been completely decimated, only for them to have fresh Marines deliver right to their doorstep. Obviously they wouldn't have the same symptoms as the original Legion of the Damned, but since they are still loyalists, popping up here and there to fight with other Imperial forces, you would think that they would be given a pass on where they side and thus have the chapter's ranks bolstered. I know this is bending the rules in terms of "what would really work", but I thought I'd give it a try. What do you think? Is it possible? Yay or nay?

Thanks!

The legion of the damned don't 'recruit' in the sense of implanting gene-seed, but they do 'recruit'.

There's a short story - Animus Malorem - where you see it happen. Essentially in the aftermath of the Legion's interventions, sometimes there is a price to be paid....

And whilst Fire Hawks = Legion of the Damned, Legion of the Damned =/= Fire Hawks - they didn't originate with them, and whilst all surviving Fire Hawks are Damned, not all Damned are Fire Hawks. They (sort of) date right the way back to the Heresy!

There have been enough marines slain in the Indomitus Crusade that some of them might well have been inducted into the Legion.
You might well see them do something with the LotD at some point - not only could you have primaris-looking legionnaires and an updated Centurius, but based on Master of Mankind it would be possible to give them a sort-of-primarch...

This seems pretty much the same as the thread you started here :

and therefore somewhat redundant so we'll close this one.

If however you decide to take them in slightly different areas -- one more proposed rules based, one more background based then one can see that being workable.

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.
