So I’m not sure if anyone realized...but the slaughterhosts aren’t “only daemon” or “only mortal”; you can have Daemons in a Goretide, they just won’t get the Tireless Conquerors rule. Anyway...

Goretide
Bloodthirster of Insensate Rage (270)
General, Hew the Foe, Thermal Rider cloak or Crimson Crown (maybe)

Gore Pilgrims Battalion (140)
Bloodsecracrator (120)
Thronebreaker’s Torc
Slaughterpriest (100)
Bronzed Flesh
Slaughterpriest (100)
Killing Frenzy
Blood Warriors x30 (520)
Blood Warriors x30 (520)
Bloodreavers x10 (70)

Bloodstoker (80)
Bloodstoker (80)

Skull Altar (0)

2CP, 166 wounds

The Bloodthirster is almost a “distraction Carnifex”, since the real threat is the two huge units of Blood Warriors that can close the distance on turn 1: 5” move, 6” run and charge, plus 3 from getting Stoker’d, plus 2D6+3 for the charge. The priests will use their abilities to keep the Thirster alive or improve the Warriors, and the Reavers will bubblewrap the Bloodsecrator to keep him safe from charges. Do I expect to win a huge tournament where the players study every book? Nope. Do I expect to pull nasty tricks on an unsuspecting local person who doesn’t realize how quickly a horse of BWs can truck it? Yup!

Please offer up thoughts, especially in regards to prayers and/or Magic items. The crimson crown allows my BT to use multiple command abilities (if they’re in different phases) without any points being spent.

I would strongly recommend Scales of Ignax for the Bloodsecrator as he is a prime target for MW spells & abilities. I think 30 blood warriors is overkill (too many bodies stuck in the back ranks unable to fight) and you would be better served running them as 20-man then using the points saved for some additional units to serve as chaff/objective snaggers/flankers.

Who said anything about lots of ranks? Lol. 2 ranks of 15, or a single line of 30. Crazy? Sounds it; but that line’ll possibly hit multiple units, swing like crazy, get hit back and cause more MWs and a bunch of attacks when they die. And then unit 2 will crash in right after. I know some armies can probably handle that without planning for it. But not many. Getting hit by 91 swinging axes that have a secondary and tertiary damage bonus when attacked back is a bit frightening.

I considered the Scales on the Bloodsecrator, but this list actually makes him less of a threat. I think there’s something that even allows him to not be attacked until he attacks first in MS; might go with that, since he’s just running and yelling. And the BT can have the Torc. Or...BT can have the cloak. Whichever. Gotta play w/ MS when I get back from my work trip.

Two lines of 15 means they hit you on the flank and you'll get to swing with maybe 6 of them.

I’m pretty big on “risk big, win big”; I’m definitely gonna give this a shot and see how it goes. Might drop the thirster and ally a Gaunt Summoner/Cogs (Everchosen ally) for +4 to the total movement; gives me a 25” MINIMUM threat range; that’s if I roll snake eyes.

You could try the tzaangor shaman (beasts of chaos ally) since he has a one per game ability for re-roll casting. Great for getting a turn 1 cogs off.
