All this talk of PA humans in various colours is getting a bit dull so for those who do not play those factions what would you like to see?
Personally;
I would love to see all the Eldar Aspects getting some plastic love (as well as updated SS).
An expansion to the Court of the Archon idea with some new races and some way of making them playable for other factions besides DA.
Exodites, they are featuring more in the fluff and it is about time that the dino riders made a come back.
Snakebite Orks, the rugged savage aspect of the species that seems to have fallen out if favour, make boarboys great again! (and release a jousting game between them and Exodites).
So what about everyone else (IOM players need not apply).

It's a minor one, but the Tau could do with some more xenos allies. Maybe some more kroot units or perhaps a psycher species. Mechs are cool and all, but it's an aspect of the Tau could use more attention.

The old kroot codex in WD was epic, bring back some of that goodness!

Whilst they are Xenos to say... Eldar, they are not Xenos as it is understood in 40k (and there is a thread on new IG already).

Dedicated Phobos armored assault unit ala Shrike. I can probably keep going, but this is about where I'm at.

I'd love to see kroot removed from Codex Tau and given their own codex. I'd also like to see GW explore other Tau member races codices.
Things that would be intreasting.
-Kroot (obviously)
- Gun'sva - One thing you often see people asking about is if there are non- IoM human options so I think this would be VERY VERY popular. the trick would be diffrentiating them from guard or Tau.

For the Eldar, plastic Aspect Warriors and a new guardian box that allows for corsairs to be built. A new sort of Aspect Warrior, preferably a close combat one (specialised in defense and counter charge). New plastic warlock squad. New Vyper/Wasp kit. New Phoenix Lords and return of Iyanna.
For the Dark Eldars, plastic Mandrakes and Grotesque (with a variation for range combat), new units to make Kabalite Trueborn, move Lahmean into a squad of elite designed for close combat with poisonned triskele at range. Move the Ur-Ghoul into an elite choice unit. Redesign the Archonte Court to replace monsters by specialised HQ helper a bit like Imperial Guards. Return of Vect and the Dais of Destruction. Return of the Baron alongside Succubus on Skyboard. Return of the Archonte on Jetbike or even winged. Return of the Decapitator with the previously mentionned Mandrakes.
For the Orks, plastic kommando and tankbusta. Warboss in mega armour and normal armor. Cyber boars (with warboss option for them). Return of the Looted tank as a main battletank compared to the heavy Battlewagon and lighter buggy/trukks. Plastic Squiggoth. New, Primarch size, Ghazkull. Return of Nazdreg and that biker bigmek.
For the Necron, I would make Flayers plastic again. Bring back the Pariah as a debuff centric unit. New Necron Destroyer kit. New Necron Destroyer built for close combat. New/reboot of the Necron Wraith as a minor HQ with repair abilities. New, more generic looking C'Tan shard. Revamp of both the Deceiver and the Nightbringer. Unleash a shard of the Void Dragon.
For the Tau, plastic kroot hound, krootox, new kroot infantry models. Shaper Kroot HQ model. An Ethereal honor guard close combat squad. Baracuda flyer in plastic. Tyger-Shark in plastic as a superheavy. Drone Controler tank on classic devilfish chassis. Slight revamp of the battlesuit to make them a little slicker. Vespid in plastic with a new weapon option like taser staffs.
For the Tyranids, plastic pack of both biovores and pyrovores revamped. Lictors in plastic with deathleaper included. Dimmachareon in plastic. Harridan in plastic as a super heavy. Shrikes and flying reapers join the fray. Tervigon that produces Hormagaunt (Horvigon?). Spore Mines, including the bigger ones, in individual boxes.
For the Genestealer Cult. Eldar Genetealer hybrid as a close combat elite choice (think Kerrigan, but more elf). Ork Genestealer as a heavy support choice (big guns brutes with some technical know how). Tau Genetealer (with wing and slim bodies since they are air cast) as a fast attack choice. Kroot Genetealer (think Alien 3, dog-like genestealer) as a troop choice.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe. |

Old Drukhari HQ in glorious plastic along with big boi Vect. Plastic Grotesques would also be welcome. I have 6 of the current ones and they do get tiresome with their ugly monopose with an outstretched hand that grabs onto everything.
Also give me Autarchs, Archons, Succubus, and Haemies with options.

Hrudd... I know that 40k has a glut of factions, however the vast majority of them are IoM, with Marines making up a large chunk of those numbers... but I still feel that the game needs more Xenos races. Tau were I think the last Xenos race added, and that was way back in the early 00's (Necron's got a reboot after Tau in 3rd, but they made their first appearance at the end of 2nd edition in a White Dwarf). Meanwhile IoM has had so many factions added that it is hard to keep count.
40k really needs some of the long mentioned races made into playable factions. I remember in the old Xenos book there was a spider like race who managed to beat the IoM in every encounter, but were limited by not having warp or ftl capabilities... then it mentioned how they had captured an Imperial cruiser and had seemed to be making progress at frl.
There was also that odd squid type race who were obsessed with balance, so much that they would approach conflict in a way that made no sense.
Then of course there was the warp orb type things that just leaked shadows.
So many interesting ideas for races, and all sadly brushed aside as the main story has evolved into the IoM Vs Chaos... with a few NPC's who occasionally get a look in.

Aspects mostly, and if they want me to care about Autarchs, i need to be able to build them to the aspects i am using.
seers for each craftworld, special charecters or not.
New guardians box, and dire avenger box. Guardians are not fun to build, and the dire avengers box was just bad.
Do them together with some cool attachments if they must be done.
Inquisiton and rogue trader would be a great place to show some interesting parts as well.
Inquisitors with alien henchmen, Good testing ground as well.
And a rogue trader thats built themselves a mini empire, and will use it. Liveing on the edge of legality !
Also would mutants count, It may be cool to see some technically human but not anymore. Both positive and negative Mutaition.
From mutants that just want a home and have found themselves lost, to human populaitions that have been separated by enough space that untill now have not been much more than paying a tithe.

I'd like to see the xenos lines progress like the marine lines.
new type of eldar units. Possibly an expansion of drukhari shadow demons (mandrakes) into other shadow demons type units. New ynnari unit, new craftworld ghost unit (troop).
New Ork units- Orks need new HQ units, some big melee character type, prime-orks.
New tyranids- LoW psyker/assault or shooty/assault LoW.
New tau- new suit type about ghostkeel sized with short range/melee weapons. Tau need an alternative melee option, something along the lines of flechette gauntlets like FW option. Rather than go in swinging and chopping they release flechette explosions or short range EMP attacks in melee.
Necrons- new unit that is somewhere in the middle dreadnaught sized and lychguard sized. Two build options, melee or assault. Unit size 1-3 with up to 3 more.
Tau Aux codex. (Kroot, vespid, new race)
Necron slave race codex (constructs, living subjugated races)
Grot Codex ( like night goblins but 40k, grots, squigs, grot junk things)

Tyranids:
A plastic duel Pyrovore/Biovore set - likely with 3 models like they've done for the zoanthrope/vemonthrope
A plastic duel lictor/deathleaper set - likely with three models.
A new Red Terror, either keep him as he is and make him a powerful ravener based hero (why they didn't put him on the ravener sprue is confusing); OR scale him up like the Greater Demons got and make him a bigger than Trygon monster. Either way give him some plastic love
That would update the core models of the Tyranids to plastic, losing the finecast.
After that I'd welcome a "Lord of War" model. Either bring the heiroduel into plastic or (better) add a totally new strain of tyranid to fit the superheavy slot for a lord of war.

Here's something I'd love to see: A "mercenaries and free agents of 40k" release to tie-in with the new Incubi, Inquisition and plastic traitor guard stuff.
Give each army (probably by what faction your warlord is) an allowance of units that they can take outside of the normal Battleforged army structure from a trio of Imperial/Chaos/Xenos mercenary lists.
Have Drukhari mercenaries, Kroot, Freebootas, Grot Revolutionaries, and 4th generation Genestealer Cultist units in the xenos list
Have Inquisition forces, Sisters of Silence, assassins, Legion of the Damned, Rogue Traders, and Necromunda Gangers in the imperial list
and have Traitor Guardsmen, Beastmen, minor daemons, Fallen Angels and other agents of Chaos in the Chaos list.
|
"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"
"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"
"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"
"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!" |

The problem with any mercenary system is Tyranids are left out almost entirely. Also I think 40K would benefit greatly from adapting AoS's style of army building and alliances and such. It allows for free form alliances, themed alliances, mercenaries and also caps them so that pure armies are not overrun with "souped min-max" forces.
Esp since in 40K there is an insane bias for any alliance system for the Marine/Imperial based factions who have loads of sub groups and armies to pick from. It's a case of extremes - at the one end Imperials at the other Tyranids.

Mostly rules. New models are nice but a lot of the Xenos armies were stripped of wargear, characters, abilities, and/or the ability to ally. The loss of allies makes me extra salty when "Taudar are TOO STRONG" and yet here we are approaching year 3 of Imperial Soup consistently being one of the top lists..

Maybe the nid "mercs" were just capture group and now are being used as cannonfodder. I mean people doing that without any regard for the possibility of nids getting out of control is just the sorta thing that I see happening in 40k.

All the new models I'd like to see have been pretty much covered, but I'd add another vote to better rules.
Drukhari HQs shouldn't lack for options like they currently do.
Tau should have more choice than 'do I want to run Fire Warriors+Fireblade+Riptides+Farsight Enclaves, or do I want to lose'.
Necrons need a total overhaul.
Tyranids have a couple of half-baked concepts that could really use some revision.
Orks really need some balance tweaks, but that might be doable with points. (Looking at you, Stompa and Burna Boyz)
Basically it's not just a models thing; xenos don't receive a lot of attention in terms of rules design, and it shows.

I would love to see an Eldar Knights codex with a couple new options and an upgrade to the Wraithknight.
An expansion into Eldar knight worlds/maiden worlds would also lead into Exodites.
Also more Phoenix Lords and Aspects in plastic.
For DE, more character options for sure.
No idea on Tau, Nids, Orks, Necrons as I don't know their armies well enough to make an educated comment.

Esp since in 40K there is an insane bias for any alliance system for the Marine/Imperial based factions who have loads of sub groups and armies to pick from. It's a case of extremes - at the one end Imperials at the other Tyranids.
Well yes, Tyranids would not hire many mercenaries would they.
However, we did juuuuuuuust get done releasing a faction explictly designed to give tyranid players access to not one, but two allied soup factions, so at this point they're doing better than Tau Necrons and Orks, aren't they?

Ork Admiral Kroozin Da Kosmos on Da Hulk

Why wouldn't the genestealer cult hire mercenaries?

I would love to see an "Eldar" minibook. One not focused on any one subgroup. That had rules for Eldar generally, with specific options.
Consider your basic Eldar. It'd be be S/T3, Xpts, etc. With a wide array of (possibly overcosted) wargear (Catapaults, Splinter, LasBlasters, swords, and more). And almost any Eldar could take them in-detatchment. Like Phoenix Lords, can be taken in detatchemnts without taking the detatchment trait. Possibly rewriting Kabals, and Guardians as upgrades to this unit (gaining faction traits) as well.
Including entries for Rangers (who are outcasts, not craftworlders, already), BIkers, basic vehicles (Vyper/Falcon/etc chasises), etc.
They could be taken as part of CWE, DE, Harlie, or Ynnari detatchments. Alternately, could create (from that book) Outcast, Corsair, or Exodite lists.
Bonus points if the book also had some Exodite-specific datasheets. Possibly Corsair or Outcast Damned pskers (like the old Corsairs list).
In my dreams, this book comes along with, at least, a 10-man Eldar kit with highly varied mdoels (think the crew of Serenity) to do various non-specific Eldar.
It'll never happen. But it'd be modeller's dream. I'd love to see similar for IoM too.
