I have put together a new army which consists of 2 CSM detachments and 1 Chaos Deamon detachment.

All are battle forged.

So, reading the codexes and I am pretty confident I can use the strategems from both codexes, but in a maelstrom of war what about the objective cards?

I am assuming I would have to take only 1 of the 2 decks?

Yes, only single deck is needed. Typically the deck from the largest detachment. Although using the deck from the warlords detachment is common as well.

The largest detachment is irrelevant, it says in the back of your codex that if your WL is CSM you replace the first six with the CSM objectives.

Perfect, yea warlord is in the CSM detachment.
