So a well known part of 40k lore is that the emotions of the races at war in the galaxy are made manifest in the warp as Daemons - but these Daemons are sentient, and so must have their own emotions. How does that work?

I'm wondering if there is a manifestation in the material universe (essentially the opposite way around), in the same way as when lightning strikes people used to say that someone had angered the gods.

Or could it be that there is a "normal" world in the Warp, where human emotions manifest as daemons, causing their equivalent of humans to have strong emotions, causing Daemons to appear in our universe?

Moving swiftly back to the rack I was on originally - what do a Daemons emotions mean to the universe, or the Warp?

Daemons definitely have emotions; Slaanesh is basically a fifteen-year old emo with the jealousy.

Always with the jealousy.

I think it's most accurate to say Daemons *are* emotions, they are the manifestation of emotional activity emerging from the abscess of the Immaterium.

So kind of like a lightning strike, but with teeth and nails.

Right, daemons are basically emotions given form. They do have emotions, but probably in a very limited range.

Demons basically are emotion. A Bloodletter has emotion in that it has rage and probably some sense of honour but it's not going to have a sad day or anything.

Well, there are tons of times in the lore that non-warp entities are extra angry/lustful/corrupted/obsessed and etc. due to a demon just being nearby. I think that would be the demons emotion basically spilling over into the material world.

Its a big emotional loop XD.

As an aside, as "infinite" rolls is actually impossible even if the FAQ "allows" it, then it will always be a non-zero chance to pass them all. Eventually the two players will die. If they pass the game on to their decendents, they too will eventually die. And, at the end of it all, the universe will experience heat death and it, too, will die. In the instance of "infinite" hits, we're talking more of functional infinity, rather than literal.

RAW you can't pass the game onto descendants, permissive ruleset. Unless we get an FAQ from GW.

I think this is similar to the "Do Daemon have free will" debate". Daemons are manifestations of emotions created by mortals and are also splinters of the entities that spawned them (i.e. the big 4)
So any emotions a particular Daemon has would be limited to those that create and sustain their patron entity.

In The First Heretic, Argal Tal gets a first-person perspective on the Neverborn possessing him and the only feeling/emotion it has or feels is hunger-pains when it's at the forefront of his mind/body and not killing people. Likewise in The Talon of Horus Khayon looks at the world through his familiar Gyre's eyes and everything but the living and dying are dark and greyed out. I'd imagine objects of significance like weapons and instances of a god's sacred numbers would stand out from the background more.

They have emotions, except one: fear. The only thing closest to it is cold discomfort. Yeah really tough cookies.
