So,
Space Marines have the same gene father, their Primarch. Thus they call themselves brother. But how do they call marines from another chapter ? Are they brothers too? Because of the Emperor ? Or not ?

Well, if the Primarchs are considered brothers, then Ultramarines and their successors are nephews to Magnus, Russ, etc. That would mean that the other Space Marines are cousins?

If the truth can destroy it, then it deserves to be destroyed.

Yup, if they do not use the term brothers then it is usually cousin instead.

Like, they really call them cousins ? I think I recall something like a marine speaking about his perfidious cousins to talk about the traitor marines but I'm not sure if it's a real souvenir or not.

I know it was used in one of the recent books I read. Can not remember which one, unfortunately, but the use of "cousin" was specifically used as a way to emphasize a level of separation. By the end of the story the character used the term "brother" instead of "cousin" to show a change in the character's viewpoint.

Oddly enough I usually see 'cousin' used to refer to marines from other chapters even if they have the same primarch though. And sometimes they will refer marines from different primarchs as 'brother'. Its all gibberish.

Yeah, there is not a whole lot of consistency. It seems to all depend on how much emphasis the individual marine and/or author wants to put on the level of separation. Some will call any marine not of their own chapter a cousin regardless if they share a primarch or not, and others refer to all marines as brother regardless of chapter and primarch.

A lot of it's culture as you can justify calling others both cousin and brother. They're all brothers in arms and they're all cousins as they have similar "fathers" but vastly different cultural origins.

pm713's exactly right it's a cultural thing. you gotta keep in mind space marine chapters have been sperated since the 2nd founding, ten thousand years ago. each chapter will be slightly differant in it's approuch and mentality. some might belive they are all brothers in service to the emperor (likely especially common among death watch veterns). others might accept brotherhood with those whom share agene sire (the unforgiven certainly) others may due to distance etc feel I imagine the Emperor's Spears for example refer to the Ultramarines as "cousin"

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two
