Well here it goes...I have almost completed my Zilla build and have saved the worst for last. I need to add wings to the Hive Tyrant. Problem is all the demon and dragon wings look silly/out of place on it. Id like to use the Balrog wings...not too bad but there seems to be no good place for them to attach. What I mean is nothing looks organic enough on the model. Wings just look crammed in there. doesnt have to look like it will actually fly as I think its more of a leaping glide. I was thinking of: 1. Convert the lower body to look faster. Suggestions? 2. Add wings that look burnt / destroyed / similar to the new bug Tau Allies...cant remember the name 3. Add joints for the wings with GS and refer to them as insect wings like a bee's..."flapping to fast to see" cheesey I know. 4. Use 2 sets of the dark pegasus wings. Alternaing Flap. Im not going to buy the rediculously fragile and over price FW wings. All suggestions will help. Pics too if you have'em. Thanks.

I hate the huge wings that most Flying Tyrants sport. It really restricts where you can place the model, and looks way over the top.
I have been eyeing the wings off of the Seraph from Hordes, for converting a Red Terror into a Flyrant. It's a double set of really swept wings that would look fantastic. Trouble is, it's almost half the $$ of a Tyrant for a Seraph. I suppose the rest of the Seraph could be converted into a Chaos Spawn or a Slaaneshi mount though.
The Red Terror is wee enough that a set of 3rd ed Gargoyle wings might be ok though...I mean, you could say that it's psychically levitating for the most part, and that the wings are just for oomph.

You might like the wings off of Galruach from the fantasy line - not nearly as big and chunky, and nicely sectioned if you decide to cut them down a bit. Only problem is that they're metal and a bit pricey ($6 per wing), but I liked the results I got from using them.

I just got done converting a Red Terror into a flyrant, and my first thought was to try Gargoyle wings too. They're too small, and look vaguely silly. I tried seeing what using two pairs of gargoyle wings was like, and that made things just too crowded. I ended up using a pair of wings I'd ordered a while back (intending to use them on a regular tyrant, I think they were Galrauch's) and they worked really well

My mistake, I used 'Blood Dragon Nightmare" wings, and I think they look pretty good. Here are some shots (the whole thing is still WIP). I had no idea what to do with a Red Terror in 4th Ed, and he never got finished being painted, but then I realized he had just the right loadout for a Flyrant, so...

For a good fit on the standard tyrant i had to snip off 2 of the "spore chimneys". Worked great from a positioning PoV.
