How do?
So once again, a concerted effort by yours truly to get back into the Hobby. Local club has moved venues, and is far closer to Grotsnik Towers. It's also moved nights, which works out more convenient for me.
Have plumped for Iron Hands, as they're simple to paint, and canonically let me field quite a lot of vehicles. That they're reasonably tasty (posting post FAQ, which applied so much needed sour cream to that spicy meatball) on the board is a plus.
So far, I've only purpose bought two kits. Box of Intercessors (built with Auto Bolt Rifles) and a Repulsor Executioners. The rest? Well, that's gubbins I've had knocking around from Conquest. And this is what I've come up with so far. Remember, this is just a 'one pot' army. The 40k equivalent of a nourishing stew cooked to use up what's in the fridge, rather than to a specific recipe.
HQ
1 Primaris Libby - 98 points
As he comes
1 Primaris Lieutenant - 69 points
Power Sword, as he comes
Intercessor Squad - 90 points
1 Intercessor Sarge, 4 Intercessors. Bolt Rifles
Intercessor Squad[b] - 163 points
1 Intercessor Sarge, 8 Intercessors, Auto Bolt Rifles
[b]Aggressor Squad - 105 points
1 Aggressor Sarge, 2 Aggressors, 3 x Flamestorm Gauntlets
Redemptor Dreadnought - 157 points
Heavy Onslaught Gatling Cannon, Heavy Flamer, 2 Fragstorms
Repulsor Executioner - 316 points
Heavy Laser Destroyer (yeah, SMASH DEM LASERS!), Rocket Pod, Ironhail, and compulsory dakka.
So far, so average. For a total of 998 points, I can do something in most phases, and I think I've managed to produce a fairly well rounded force for getting back in the saddle.
Over time (next few months) I'm consider adding in three Impulsors to cart the Intercessors around in, and add in the 10th member of the Auto Bolt Rifle dudes (who I left out to squeak in under 1000). Going with the Belicastus Missile Array and the Stubber upgrade, mostly because I really like rolling as many dice as I can. And having the flexibility of speedsome firepower isn't going to hurt.
Will I add in Feirros? I dunno. Maybe. If I do, I'll be trading in the Lieutenant, as he's covered in Ultramarines iconography and is currently there as a make weight. Given there's barely anything between them points wise, it seems a no brainer.
Also tempted by a pair of the new Warsuits. Being able to get roasting/blasting my enemy straight off the bat Turn 1 appeals a lot - especially when I can depend on Iron Hands being that little bit tougher.
