Hi good luck with the list.

I'm assuming both Dev Squads go in the drop pod and come down turn 1 to melt 2 vechicles....and then pray they survive.

I think with the scouts you're missing a trick taking flamer land speeders instead of land speeder storms. You can deep strike land speeder storms and have your scouts in them.

Captain on bike.....ummmm why?

Hi, thanks for the feedback.
The reason I went for the land speeders is that they are tough to ignore because they can get 36 hits with the strat plus the mortal wounds potential. With the 4++ strat they're not too easy to get rid of and should either keep the invictus warsuits safer by drawing the heat or bring the heat themselves if they're not targeted.
The devastators I'd probably bring down turn one, with the strat working on a lieutenant (as far as I know) they should be pretty difficult to target.
As for the bike captains, they are quick enough to support the rest of the force (chapter master to sit next to the meltas for example) and between them and the invictus warsuits they have got a lot of melee punch for second turn charges.

Drop pods have a transport capability of 10 models. how are you drop podding them in with a lieutenant?

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Personally I think you'd get more mileage from 2 Dev squads with Lascannons or Grav Amps combined with a lieutenant.

If you're really intent on drop podding something.......can I suggest Drop Podding a unit of Sternguard? With Combi-Meltas they can handle infantry and tanks, plus they get rapid fire.

The lieutenants are Phobos so can infiltrate, I'd hope to get some use out of them with the invictus too.
I did think about company veterans with meltas instead of Devs, similar to sternguard but with the potential to shield my characters, but I thought the extra range of the multi meltas would work better in turn one because of screens. Vets or sternguard would probably have to come in turn two because of screens.
I don't know if meltas are the optimal choice but I'd prefer to take them for fluff reasons.

Phobos lieutenants cannot inflitrate. If they take grav shutes they can deep strike turn 2, but they dont have concealed positions in any gear loadout.

Ah, thanks for that, I haven't used them and assumed... and we all know what assuming gets you!
I guess swapping them out for lieutenants with jump packs could work instead.

I think the list looks good. Land speeders are definately a good early target for flamer strats. I wouldn't build around the sacrafice strat and characters, I feel that will get FAQd in a week or two.

Apart from that flame agressors, despite having their problems are potentially too good to miss out on in a salamanders list. I'd think about swappong devs and drop pod out for three squads of 3.

The captain with drakeslayer, flamer mortal wound strats and +1 w -1ap flamers are decent enough anti tank anyway.

Agree with small-gods.

If you're not using Devs as long range support they are better swapped with Aggressors.

Yeah, I can't see the strat allowing characters to shield units is going to last long either, it's pretty bonkers.
I'd love to put aggressors in but I just can't see them getting anywhere without transportation which I can't afford without totally rewriting the list. Do you have any experience footslogging with them?
I think I'll try the melta drop bomb for a couple of games at least and see how it works.

Only to play against. They are fairly tough now, and cheap enough for it not to be the end of the world if they get focused down early.

Depending on deployment and matchup they're generally firing turn 2 (with all the buffs) so if you give them headaches with the invictors and land speeders turn one they're fairly safe. Plus there's the sacrafice stratergem to keep them safe as well.

I'm going to try a unit of six aggressors supported by a librarian with fire shield and drakeskin to see how they work out.
