Hi guys,
After a few games and according to my collection of models, I ended up with this list that I like and will play this weekend against necrons.
I do have one hesitation however:
Should I keep 3 drop pods or go down to 2 and add one more plasma veteran and one more terminator ?

I like being able to (almost) null deploy (only the scouts and the vehicles who don't really need to be close or lines of sight have to be on the table T1) as it can deny an opponent a full shooting phase and it worked perfectly last time I did it.

But the sternguard veterans, being able to move and shoot up to 30", don't really need a drop pod. They can be deployed and shoot all game without having to move and can totally move and shoot twice at 30" anyway. The issue is if I put them on the table, then I would have paid a drop pod for nothing... But if I don't take one, I will HAVE to play them on the table, no choice...
What would you do ?

I would forget the drop pods. and take rino's . you can use them to blok LOS and tank shock his units making them even more slow i would change your list a bit make your unit 6 models (because of spell) and make all your scouts snipers .... so you can hunt there characters and casters
its not a finishet list but you get what i mean

Well, seeing as I can't begin a new thread on my phone (don't know why) I'll just reactivate this one with a new list:
I had great fun with this kind of drop podded lists but now is time for a change !
So playing Ultramarines successor I really tried to get units benefiting being in tactical doctrine and the UM stratagem (disengage and shoot, reroll 1's, etc.). I ended up with this:

A battalion and two vanguards, so 10 cp.
About 70 models and not a vehicle to be seen, so it's not bad actually.
I kept a drop pod with a grav deva and a small plasma team supported by the ancient with a seal of oath as it works pretty well. He can gives the grav squad the tactical doctrine T1 if necessary thanks to his wt.
Another dev squad with ML: ap-3 while in the devastator doctrine makes it for the weak ap-2 of the ML and then they can move and shoot for 150 pts
The main firepower are the 60 ap-3 bolter shots up to 36" while in tactical doctrine.
I brought some terminators and jump pack veterans in order to have some thunder hammer and some counter assault, as a good Ultramarine student.
Using I think bolter fusillades ans hungry for battle will helps my scouts and veterans ' shooting while greatly helping my terminators and vv assaulting from deep strike.
What do you think ?

I really llike (and would be skittish wiwth my drop forces to ever play against) your list. Last I checked (and remeber)r vangaurd vets can take storm shields + combat weapons now on some of them, you might consider giving that little pile of melee madness some extra stiff resilience in the chainsword guys. That can absorb a lot of overwatch if you end up charging two somethings with anti-tank and can only deny overwatch to one of them .. or want to save that last cp. Two bolt pistols extra never won a fight, but two 3++ saves when being shot well could frustrate a few plasma gunners.

The second dev squad costs you 20 points a missle .. if you drop one to a heavy bolter there used to be a cool mortal woudns strategem to use wit h it (ain't got my book up here tonight so can't check if its still in the new manual). 10 free points = 2 storm shields for vangaurd guys with chainswords and 3 storm bolter upgrades for scout sgts. Viola, a tougher squad, a mortal wound, and 6 extra dice thrown a round under bolt discp.
