I am going to start a couple of projects over the Thanksgiving holiday, and I need some help figuring out what I need to grab for conversion or if there is a Imperial to Chaos equivalent that I missed.

First project is going to be a Chaplain Dreadnought. Right now, I think I will be picking up a Venerable Dread box, and throwing a ton of BT kitbash on it. My biggest concern is that I am not sure if the Chaplain dread is the same size as a normal dread. I don't want to be TFG who says its a dread chaplain, but its half the size of what it should be. So will a Ven Dread work for the "base" model? The weapons I am pretty sure I can work out once I get the body down.

Second project is simply building my TS Contemptor. There are a few weapon options that don't show up on the FW shop, which throws me off a bit...

- I see the CCW's come with SB, Plasma, and Flamer option. I assume that those count as the Hellflamer, and Ectoplasma blaster? What about the Soul Burner option? What are people using for that? I see a Soul Burner for the Decimator, but that seems excessive for an attachment to the CCW.

- The Butcher Cannon seems to be a really good option, but i don't see it on sale anywhere. I did see a post under the DG subreddit that some people use the Storm Cannon for this. Is that accurate?

- Ectoplasma Cannon I assume would use the normal Plasma cannon? Seems to be the case if we follow the Butcher Cannon path, but just not sure.

Thanks in advance for the help everyone!

It's the same Dreadnought pattern as the normal Dreadnought, Venerable Dreadnought is a good base, I've seen the BA Death Company Dread recommended when I just searched google.

The Decimator has a soulburner petard, the soulburner is unique to Chaos Contemptors. Kitbash or sculpt something if FW doesn't sell it.

I don't think I've played against anything other than butcher cannon and most people go double butcher cannon, it's realtively good.

Hmm... didn't think to search other units for that Butcher Cannon. Thanks for pointing that out.

I'll have to look at my TS Contemptor and see if filing down the connection piece would let that sit well enough.

I think you are right about just having to kitbash or sculpt a smaller soulburner since they dont have one for the Contemptor. It's irritating when they stop selling weapon options like that.

Thanks for the help.

Not sure about the basic ccw claws but the chainclaws come with two different gun barrels that fit in the palms of the claws. One had a flamer look with vents on the sides the other is smooth and tapers out then back in.

They also come with two different magazines/power source options that go on the forearms.

This would be a lot easier if all of those bit shops would sell custom dread weapons. I can find damn near any BT or TS swag I need, but can't find dread weapons to save my life.

What are you equipping your Chaplain Dread with?

I did CCW/Assault Cannon

I plan on using magnets in the arms to be able to switch it out, but I think my first loadout will be double CCW with flamers. I'm building a drop pod list to go with the BT theme, so dropping in a chaplain dread with a couple crusader squads will be a first round charge from hell.

Right now my favorite tactic is playing hero hammer, so the dread chaplain will fit in nicely with that.

Keep in mind you'll need a Dreadnought Drop Pod this edition.

Yup, I decided I will suck it up and grab one during the holiday season. I really detest having to pay that premium, and considered grabbing a normal one to proxy since 99% of my games are casual... but I dunno.

Ended up grabbing a DW Ven Dread box this weekend from my FLGS since it was actually less than the normal box. Built it, and decked it out with some serious BT kitbash. I also have one of those boxes of skulls for basing, so I put a few cool looking skulls on the base. This will be fun to put on the table.

Looking at the weapons a little closer, now I am not totally sure if I want to go with two CCW. It would be give reroll 1, but the additional firepower from say the AC to clear screens would be nice, or perhaps an inferno cannon if I can find one on ebay.

One thing is certain. If I can get this bad boy into melee with an active Mantra of Strength, its going to really put the hurt on something.

No Pity! No Remorse! No fear!
