Stratagems such as Forewarned and Auspex Scan allow you to shoot at a unit that is being setup as reinforcements.


Excluding the obvious. Deep strike and the likes.

When can it be used?

First offenders such as Dark Matter Crystal, Da Jump, ect have an FAQ for Auspex Scan which count them as reinforcements.

Next offenders GSC Nodes?

Spore Mines?

And Finally Disembarking from Transports. Could someone point me in the right direction because RAW it appears you can forewarn a unit disembarking from a transport.

RAW, you can use auspex scan and forewarned and similiar stratagems on disembarking units, because they are set up. Units which are set up are reinforcements.

This is strictly false. If that were the case, you could never disembark from a transport on turn 1, and would be actively hindered from doing so by Infiltrator's Omni-scrambler and abilities like them (as they affect units being set up as reinforcements)

To clarify;

All units coming from reinforcements are set up.
Not all units being set up are reinforcements.

It is definitely false.


You can shoot the pod, cause its being set up as reinforcements. The unit inside then disembarks. You cannot use those strats on them, just like you cant use them on any other unit that disembarks from a transport.

Please note that the OP explicitly asked for the RaW. RaW disembarking units are considered as Reinforcements as per the definition of Reinforcements given in the Reinforcements rules.

The rulebook definition of Reinforcements does not mean "units that are set up which were deployed somewhere other than the battlefield", it is any unit that is set up "mid-turn", without qualifiers.
