So heres the deal, I just started doing anything with Warhammer back in August. I bought a ton of orks from flea markets and facebook. As I collected I have made a full army of 40k orks. But in the doing, I have also picked up what appears to be a box of ardboyz. I am also very interested in AoS! This weekened my flgs is having a flea market where you can sell off your old boardgames for store credit, and GW products are 10% off that day. So what I want to do is get enough money to buy the start collecting Ironjawz box.

So if I have the Start collecting Ironjawz box, and a box of ardboyz, what else would I need to have a starting Ironjawz army?

Most important things:

1) Orruks Battletome - has all the rules for your Orruks within it. Both the rules for the two stand alone armies (Ironjawz and Bonsplitters) and also the rules for the combined WAARGH that uses both forces in a single army.

2) I'd suggest, if you don't have the Big Rulebook, get the new small rules book. It contains all the core rules and a good portion of the added rules such as endless spells and such.


After that I'd say you're off to a good start with a start collecting set and some Ardboyz

If you want to go either pure Ironjawz, or Great Waagh, then after the new battletome I would suggest 2-3 Start Collecting boxes. At 2000pts essentially every list will start with two Warchanters, six Gore Gruntas. and 20 Ard' Boys. A third start collecting might be a bit much, but again, all three units inside are just so good.

From there I would say a Weirdnob Shaman gives you a lot of options, and a Warboss on foot or on Maw Krusha are also must haves eventually.

Fun thing is... the exact same models can then be enjoyed in very different ways thanks to the different allegiances in the book.

Ya I'm planning on going straight Ironjawz. The bonesplitters aesthetic does not interest me at all.

Incidentally you can play Great Waaagh using pure Ironjawz, so do still consider it. Its great fun and both options have surprisingly different approaches.

Since you have one box of black orcs and you're in the US just get two of these:

and you'll have plenty of points worth of heavily armed orcs to go WAAAAGGGHHH up on someone. Seriously, it's one of the best points/usefulness/dollar value boxes they've done for any game.

I already had like 20 Black Orcs so I just got one of those boxes, the shaman, and the Warboss. The big dragon is cool if you have a suitcase to transport models.
