Subject: Moving through friendly units

Hi
So this came up in one of our games recently and I was a bit confused by the rule.
I was under the impression that models cannot move through other friendly models. I understand that we are unable to move through enemy units and models as it would bring us into melee range.
But if the base of a model cannot move through the space between a friendly unit models it has to go around it or wait for the other unit to move first. My thought on this came from when I was learning to move my ork army with KFF and a bunch of boyz. If I had the boyz in front of the Big Mek the boyz would have to run first and the Big Mek follow. The challenge being that they boyz get an inch more of movement than the Big Mek in mega armor. If the boyz get a 6 on advance and the Mek gets a 1 he gets left behind and the KFF is useless.
If we are allowed to move a model through friendly models then I would easily advance the big mek first and have the boyz move after to keep in the bubble. There are units with rules like Big n Stompy or Fly that this does not apply to.
Thanks for any help

From the Battle Primer, with relevant part in bold:
A model can be moved in any direction,
to a distance, in inches, equal to or
less than the Move characteristic on its
datasheet. No part of the model’s base
(or hull) can move further than this. It
cannot be moved through other models
or through terrain features such as walls,
but can be moved vertically in order to
climb or traverse any scenery.
If the datasheet for a model says it can
Fly, it can move across models and
terrain as if they were not there. Automatically Appended Next Post: In short, the rules don't state a difference between friendly and enemy models, just that you cannot move through ANY models.

The post above is correct. You cannot move through your other models. Unless you have FLY of course.

Perfect thank you.
I think that was the other part that we discussed in the game. We enter walls (they had windows or doors) through any part as opposed to just the doorways in our game. Are there differences in ITC or regular games when it comes to moving through walls and floors?

Moving through walls and floors is straight from the rules for Ruins in Chapter Approved 2018.

It does depend on how you define the terrain piece, but if it is ruins then Infantry can move through walls.

The alternative with some models is to go to max coherency with the models in the front so the back line can move through the gaps. Difficult to do and also leaves you open to getting wrapped and trapped.
