So, MSU of the Aspect Warriors that can actually pack a punch. Master Crafters will be doing good work.

Mixing different units in the Serpents spreads out my threats, and lets me take casualties on the Avengers if they blow up.

I'm not sure if I should drop one of the Shining Spear units and use the points to upgrade the Serpents with Star Cannons, Chin Cannons and CTM. The Scatter Lasers may be useful for hordes.

Interesting list. I like the idea of different units sharing the same transport to mitigate losses of key Aspect Warriors if the vehicle explodes.

I do recommend finding a way to get CTM on your Serpents. I anticipate they will be moving every turn and the -1 to hit with the Scatter Lasers will add up over the course of a game.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

I would reorganize the DRs into having at least one at a full 10 models, making best use of Guide. Then have the other two pack in WaveS for fun. You've plenty of seats in the 4 rides to shuffle them around. One unit of DAs swapping out for seats and points, although, you'll need to find a few more points.

Also, Warlocks on bikes is a lot of investment for a 3W dude. I watched mine die to a lot of easy casual fire or Perils, or tanks that blow up.I think a Spiritseer on foot is better for more wounds. And you don't need another bike's mobility with the whole army moving so fast.

It might require shuffling one or 2 Shining Spear models out, and making for one, larger unit.

Overall, MSU works for DE, their units being cheaper and not hurting as bad for the loss of a couple units. I don't think it works for regular, aesthetic elves, because each has much more worth.

Well I'm still experimenting with MSU Craftworlds since the PA book. It would be simple to make the Reapers into a full unit of 10 and stack Psy powers and strats on them- that's been the way to do it all edition and it works.

I have been having success with MSU Reapers though. With the Master Crafters trait and an Autarchs reroll 1's aura they don't need Guide, and Doom is a lot less important. They also get extra shots when split up thanks to the Rapid Shot Exarch Power.

As MSU they are more independent and reliable; they don't rely on Psy powers working and CP being available.

As a big unit of 10 they can be super powered with LFR, Guide, Protect, Conceal and use Fire and Fade to hide, but they require a lot of resources (which may fail/run out), and there's an inherent vulnerability to have so many eggs in one basket.

I'm still undecided on which is the best approach.

I like the Warlock for the Seer Council Strat, but you may be right here. I could give a Spiritseer the 12" move Relic and reroll psy tests trait to have a much more reliable Jinx caster, and a proper Smite.

Yeah the Serpents really feel like they need more firepower, ideally CTM and a chin Cannon, but it hurts to lose any Aspect Warriors.

Thanks for the feedback.

Ah, you're right. I've read those new abilities in Psy-Awake. Sounds like it's time to play 'em and see how they perform. Are you in a league or have a number of RTTs soon? Tourneys tend to slow down in the holiday season, at least here in California. Have you opponents who are all in for new primaris nastiness? A real test would be versus ImpFists, IH, and fer sure, the Custodes/Calladius goofery (I despise that list).

Well, I'd give all Serpents shuricannons and take Biel Tan for rerolling 1's to hit for shuriken weapons.
I play my BT army similarly and haven't lost a game so far,
but haven't attended a tourney with it in the 8th.

I really don't think this is a list that would do well at any kind of tourney, as much as I would like it to. Rather than making the strongest list I can, which would require Aircraft, I'm going for the strongest list I can make that uses aspect warriors (CHE's don't count!). It looks like the chapter approved points changes help this list quite a bit though, Fire Dragons, Dark Reapers, and Shining Spears are all getting a cut. That'll free up enough points to upgrade the Wave Serpents.

Well it probably should be Biel Tan to be a "proper Swordwind". At the beginning of 8th I was kitting out my Serpents with Shuricannons and Vectored Engines, but I haven't done that for a while. I don't think Shuri's are worth it if you're not advancing, because they only score the same amount of hits as Scatter Lasers even with the heavy penalty, so it's rending vs 12" extra range. Scats are cheaper, so I wouldn't take Shuri's unless I was taking Vectored Engines and advancing. I tend to find that my infantry don't stay in their transports long enough for that to be necessary, as most can be in range on turn 1 thanks to 3" deploy + 7" move + D6 Advance. If I were using Wraith units I might go the Vectored Engine route again as they need the Serpent to spend a turn getting them into position.

Edit: actually, you've got me thinking about -1 to hit Serpents again now. 167pts for 3x Shuri Cannon, Spirit Stones, and Vectored Engines hmm.
