Whilst the title might be a little overblown in that there's no confirmation of a widespread removal, FW has removed several kits from sale over the past weeks from the AoS line and, being GW, its impossible to get any firm information on any future potential removals. So I'm highlighting this since if you DO want FW kits chances are you might want to grab them now.

Note that the stock is hard to follow because it appears they are using regional stocking levels on the site. So some removed kits in the USA are still on sale in the UK and other regions and vis versa

Also if you are interested in kits which have been removed use the "contact us" email for FW to air your concern about the removal of kits. Remember the person answering emails is not likely anyone involved with the choice to remove them, so remain polite.

FW can not be relied on in anyway. everything from FW is subject to removal many years before anything from GW, either model or rules wise that is.

I stopped buying from them years ago when i first saw this trend, i was already burned by it, never again.

Edit: PS, about contacting them not to remove the kits? Well that doesnt work, the SOB and Corsairs communities been trying for years to get those kits back, FW has always basically said "meh". I told them many times i'm going to boycott and go 3rd party if they cant get the kits i want, they literally told me they are Ok with that.

FW is moving towards a focus on supplying specialist games rather then botique models for fantasy/AOS and 40k, the bad news is yeah their AOS stuff will liekly be phased out, the good news is in 5 years time when the "WFB" relaunch occurs it'll mean LOTS of units that can proably be used for AOS

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

This is one of the reasons I have stopped buying many of the models from FW. You never know when a model might go into LCTB and screw with your army plans.

I might buy a few of the female Stormcast heads while I still have a chance, otherwise I am staying away from FW.

This really is no different from GW.
Units/options/entire armies can just vanish at random.
The support for the models is still there though.

Just annoyed as my chaos dwarf army could soon become a relic if it keeps up at this rate.

No, there are many FW units hat lasted less than 10yrs, while GW has the majority of their models last longer than 10yrs, we are still using 20+yr old models even. Heck some FW stuff only lasted for 5yrs.

The other difference is that FW models don't get marketed nor rules supported (Esp for AoS) anywhere near as much as GW models. AoS is even worse as through the life of AoS there have been very very few models released. Heck the "AoS Team" was formed within FW, released 12 heads for stormcast and was then disbanded.

Basically the AoS stuff is being stripped and its got a feeling that it was abandoned with the long term view that abandoning it would result in low sales resulting in its removal. Which is a huge shame as many of those models are still very top quality and easily stand up to modern sculpts.

A lot of GW removals are often where a model is very dated and the design has fallen behind the current model line; with FW the resin means many retain high detail and their scupts are normally more one-off units within armies that stand to the side so the army can advance and the model from FW remains the same. Skaven could go through loads of visual changes but wolfrats would remain valid through pretty much all of them.

GW still pulls a lot of stuff.
The launch of AoS alone squatted 2 factions.
While GW stuff typically lasts longer, it changes far more.
Weapon options, unit sizes etc all change over time or just vanish.
Lost count of how many people had to remove older weapons as they either weren’t viable any more or just weren’t an option.

Saw this coming when Alan Bligh (spelling)passed, he was the writer for the FW fantasy monster books, background for their existence. FW main sale is still 40k/30k, when people already spend their wallet on those, there isn’t anything left for fantasy. Like all models, some of them make no sense or looked awful.

For example: why does the worm monster have eyes? The friendly chubby lava dragon make me lol! They have some solid ranges too, the chaos dwarves, the toad dragon-except the tongue being in resin looks awfully fragile sticking an inch out.

Forgeworld is being reworked as the brand for specialist games, not specialist products for their main games. That's something we've heard from GW staff for a long time now.

The problem is though that 99% of their staff don’t even know what’s going on.
While I’m hoping you are wrong about it, I’m inclined to agree.

Guess this means I’ll have a chaos dwarf army for sale soon lol.
Not building it at triple the cost.

Also, GW talks about Old World is going to be like HH, i'm thinking FW is going to pick that up and run it, so FW will be HH/OW/Specialist only.

It's important to remember that the entirity of the FW AoS listing is somewhat less than some Xenos army listings for 40K. It's not that huge a number of models to cast

All eyes on them for the next batch!

Brood horror is still up for sale!

Sad fact - the only models for AoS that I now want from FW are the Verminlord and Slaanesh Keeper.

It's like they wanted to gut every model I could get to use or wanted to own in one fell swoop :(

I’m luckily paid weekly, so grabbed another Carmine and a magma for now.
While I don’t have any plans for them yet, I’ll find a use at some stage.

Still bugged that I never pulled the trigger on the mammoth years ago.
It still haunts me now.

My only fear now though is that my chaos dwarves will soon join them all.
If that happens I’ll likely sell them off as I won’t add to them at eBay prices.
It’s bad enough that the skullcracker went ages ago, but now it looks as if the whole range is at risk.

Magma dragon for me. I could almost have pulled the trigger on buying one, but I just reasoned out that I just didn't have a purpose to add one to any of my armies (seriously destruction is the only GA that I don't own a single army nor plan to own a single army from at this point in time). It's a beauty of a model and I really hope it comes back; like many of them they are still fantastic sculpts. I was overjoyed to get my warpfire earlier this year and very thankful that I got one before they vanished without warning from the UK store!

Very sad to miss out on wolfrats; but I just couldn't justify buying a whole host of them when FW was removing them and likely their rules will vanish from the skaven army in time. I'll certainly keep my little 5 and use them, but I'll miss the chance to go full wolfrat swarm of 20 or so in an army.

Dreadmaw was a shame to lose, though it was another that I just couldn't justify the use of. It doesn't help GW not marketing them all that much, but thrusting so many into a basically "dead for most of AoS lifespan" grand alliance (destruction) really didn't help them.

I'm now checking the FW site regularly though. I seriously don't want to miss out on the chance to get an exalted Keeper of Secrets. I nearly panic bought one earlier in the year when they vanished on all the pages save for Horus Heresy. The problem is £100 isn't something you can just pull out of a corner of the sofa and throw down on a model on a whim. These are big purchases no matter if they are from GW or FW or any other company. Having hours to a few days warning (at best) is a really tiny warning period.

Yeah all the things I wanted to buy would serve no purpose from a gaming perspective. So would be on a back burner.

And the last thing Id want is to start building a kit 2 years later to find something wrong and there be no way to get replacement cast.

Have they ever returned a kit ?

Also its not showing as out of stock /sold out. Those two are just plain removed seems weird how they do it. But that's FW all over lol.

Deathshrieker Rocket Launcher is now gone

Bonegrinder Giant and Warpgnaw Verminlord are both "sold out" at present. Hard to tell if that means its "gone gone" or just awaiting new casting.

Right now its seeming increasingly likely that FW is just dropping AoS entirely.

Think this is the start to me selling off the chaos dwarves sadly.
Not paying scalper prices to add to the army.

If I were you I'd hang onto the models. They'll likely only go up in value over time, but also who knows if GW "MIGHT" consider one of the two "FW" armies for a main-line release. Or a "chaos dwarf" army of another name with a similar theme.

Thoguh yes I agree it is sad times, esp as GW hasn't really done enough, in my view, to actually promote FW for AoS. Heck the only arm I think they actually did any for was Gloomspite Gitz.

I’ll likely wait for panic buyers then sell the army in parts and be done with it.
Dislike the uncertain nature of it so don’t want to add more.

Will grab some mournguls for my Nighthaunt though as I’m not taking any risks.
