Da Red Gobbo has been upping his game of late, which means that Christmas is almost upon us. We reckon the only thing more exciting than that could be a preview of December’s issue of White Dwarf! But before we go any further, we’ve got a present for you…

…by which we, of course, mean that December’s issue is sleeved and comes with some exclusive goodies, including a Gang Tactics card for Necromunda called A Present For You! Here’s what you’ll find included with each physical copy of White Dwarf:

A Present For You, Necromunda Gang Tactics card
A 10-page gaming supplement all about Gang Raids, including four new scenarios for Necromunda
A Warhammer Age of Sigmar poster mat for the included Spellflux Spire mini-game all about duelling Wizards!
A Warcry profile card for none other than Gotrek Gurnisson!*

So that’s what’s on the outside, but let’s see what’s on the inside by checking out this month’s contents…

That’s the overview, but let’s pick out a few choice articles in greater detail.

https://www.warhammer-community.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/WD-40KFans-Dec24-40KLogo-Content.jpg

Index Astartes: Flesh Tearers

This month, the spotlight falls on the most shamelessly violent of all the Space Marines Chapters – the Flesh Tearers. In addition to an extensive background on Gabriel Seth and his crimson-clad battle-brothers, there’s even a short story by none other than Andy Smillie, who has penned a number of Black Library novels about Sanguinius’ fiercest sons.**

You’ll also find an exclusive Echoes of War mission, Purge the Intruder, as well as a Flesh Tearers Kill Team showcase and Paint Splatter stage-by-stage guides for both the Contrast and Classic Methods.

The Tome Celestial: The Emerald Host

Before the recent arrival of Katakros, Mortarch of the Necropolis, and his Ossiarch Bonereapers, the Nighthaunt legions of Lady Olynder spearheaded Nagash’s Soul Wars.

In this month’s Tome Celestial, you can read all about the origins of the Mortarch of Grief and her own personal procession, the Emerald Host. You’ll also be able to field them in battle with three new warscroll battalions – the Forgotten Scions, the Dolorous Guard and the Emerald Host itself. If you need a hand painting them, there are also a pair of Paint Splatter guides – Contrast and Classic.

Da Red Gobbo Goes Sneaky…

So, you’ve grabbed your model of Da Red Gobbo and even gathered some grots for him to lead, but where to begin your revolushun?

Well, we think the Kill Team battlefield is the perfect place to start sowing the seeds of discord and unrest. But to do that, you’ll need some rules. Thankfully, December’s issue has a Commander datasheet for the festive rabble-rouser himself! You can even take part in the aptly named narrative mission, Revolushun!

Penitent 707

You wouldn’t want to meet an Arco-flagellant in a dark alley. Unfortunately, the only way your explorers can utilise Penitent 707 as a retinue character is to venture into the twisted corridors of the Blackstone Fortress and recover the code word for its pacifier helm – then use it before getting arco-flailed to death! However, should you succeed in the new expedition, the Salvation of Penitent 707, your explorers will gain a valuable asset to use in their future missions.

You won’t have long to wait until you can get your hands on this issue of White Dwarf. Remember to subscribe to ensure you never miss an issue, which will have exclusive full-cover art and you’ll receive your copy a few days early!

Until you can get your hands on December’s issue, prepare your own Flesh Tearers for action by grabbing a copy of Codex: Blood Angels and pre-order Psychic Awakening: Blood of Baal for all the awesome new rules for the Sons of Sanguinus.

* No, he won’t join your warband, no matter how many times you ask him! However, you’ll find the full rules for including the legendary Slayer in your games of Warcry elsewhere in the magazine.
** If you’d like to learn even more about the Flesh Tearers, be sure to pick up Andy’s novel, Sons of Wrath.

Yea, looks like one of those issues that will be hard to snag at retail.

The old meta is dead and the new meta struggles to be born. Now is the time of munchkins.

It looks really neat, but I really wish they went back to giving out free model(s) instead of ton of useless cardboard tat as freebies.

I think they're saving the free mini for the next reboot.

Getting it for the free game, which looks like a revision of Duels of the Crystal Labryrinth which required quite a lot of components(its thanks to that game I have a small army for both AoS, 40K and Kill Team!). Duels was really good and this one should be as much fun...

The last two years they had something for just about every available game, but this one feels like an average monthly issue - not a bumper worthy of the festive holiday season.

As this is the final White Dwarf for 2019, it must be said that Titanicus players have been largely ignored this year, especially during a frustrating release schedule and having been left in the dark for months on end. While one can appreciate that AT one of the smaller specialist games and can't be featured every month, only two articles for the whole year is disappointing. Wasn't expecting to end the year on a bang, but not even a whimper for AT is even more disappointing.

Skies of Slaughter? Brand new game? Page 42...hmmm. Interested to see what that is.

Casual gaming, mostly solo-coop these days.

Judging from the front cover of the issue it is just a free set of rules on how to play a mini game of AoS flying ship battles, not a separate rate new game being released.

I suppose the Blackstone Fortress material in the issue isn't included in the upcoming annual book.

I think it is! The new Penitent 707 rules were first discussed in the Blackstone Fortress Annual preview.

I wish they would make actual character cards for these extra models - I had hoped that the Annual would come with them, but it doesn't seem like it.

That would have been an incentive for those who collect WD all year round.

Have they done any tyranid characters for BSF? I think it would be highly hilarious to have a Deathleaper running about the station, making a fabulous nuisance of itself. THAT would get me onboard!

No Tyranids yet; that's an interesting idea though - perhaps that's coming next! Or maybe a GSC model.

Tyranid players would be very happy for a plastic lictor/deathleaper and perhaps some more new poses for the genestealers (seriously their standard kit is possibly one the oldest poses out there)

The genestealers got some (2?) new models with Deathwatch Overkill, but I don't think they've been released elsewhere.

They have not been.

They were part of the sprue with the non-hero GSC stuff. One per sprue, specifically called out as "Purestrain Genestealers". I was hopeful that sprue would be released as a start collecting set at some point but no joy!

Dolorous Guard : 2-4 Hexwraiths: +1 Attack if charge in same turn. Also on a 2++ if general within 3" of unit, must re-allocate wound/MW to that unit.

The Forgotten Scions: 2 Dreadbalde Hallows and 1 Knight of Shrouds (+1 A to Sword of Stolen Hours), once per BR can use Command abiility without CP

Emerald Host: Forgotten Scions, 1+ Delorious Guard, any number of Chainguard, The Condemed or Death Stalkers:
Pick 1 Enemy hero before 1st BR = -1 save throws

Am I alone in disliking free crap being included with WD?

I always end up throwing it in the trash. I never have a use for it and no one ever wants it. It always feels like it's such a waste.

Depends on what is included.

For the Wizard game, I'm all for it, especially as the last one(DOTCL) required two copies of the magazine to play, and would have preferred it this way . If one was a Necromunda player(another game I wish I had time for) then the Christmas booklets would have been welcome.
