Subject: Wraithbone Base alternative in Vallejo or ArmyPainter?
Gearing up for a big Contrast project, and really want to avoid relying on Wraithbone as a base coat, for money, availability and airbrushing reasons. What are my alternatives in either Vallejo (MC) or ArmyPainter? I recently primed a test mini in Vallejo Desert Tan surface primer (which was an experience! so much curing time), as Google suggested that was the answer, but it turned out very yellow. I'm pretty unfamiliar with Wraithbone in person but it seems very light? Thanks for any insight.
If it helps, I'm almost exclusively looking to use Contrast Apothecary White, hence the too-yellow being a problem.

Apothecary White is a very mild pigment; over Wraithbone or any equivalent it will come out yellowish, and not produce as strong shading as if it were applied over white. Apothecary White can be applied over white primer, so are you sure you want a Wraithbone equivalent?
Anyways, VMC Ivory is a yellowy off-white that seems pretty close to Wraithbone. If you have an airbrush then it should be pretty easy to apply.

I'm entirely happy to just use white primer! Researching apoth white seemed to suggest Wraithbone's warmth was important for the paint's overall cool tone. I can see white prime being useful to get the most out of this contrast paint. I've been using a very light grey for other contrast, and had a suspicion the apoth white would be lost on that.
Here's an example of Apothecary White from CamoSpecs. After priming his model, he gives it a coat of VMC Ivory.

Yeah, the CamoSpecs guys do some great work and I find their tutorials helpful.

Using vallejo black primer with a heavy zenithal spray of white ink as base for my Sisters white armour, with Apothecary White Contrast over it. Looks fine to me.
