What it says on the tin. Outside of pre-existing characters like Tor Garadon and Mephiston, there are no Primaris named characters. Why do you think this is?

Because GW is first busy upgrading old named characters to primaris so they can get busy squatting old marines. They can come up with new characters after.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

Pretty sure they're not using that term anymore.

They're getting shipped off to an agriworld to become Legends.

Adrix Agatone is a salamanders primaris character. Has some pretty neat rules.

both Agaton and Garradon are new characters. they've been mentioned before but never had a model and mini. GW is instead choosing to give us some characters with eistablished lore behind them first and this is proably a smart move

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

I think that GW recognizes to a degree that if it sells named characters, you'll only ever buy one - and only if you're playing that specific army. If it instead sells Primaris lieutenant #63, you might buy 2 or 3 for your brigade, and any SM player can use the model for their army.

And they can still charge the same price as if it were, say, Mephiston.

It never ends well

There's really nothing stopping you from buying the Iron Father or Kayvaan Shrike to use as a Techmarine or Jump-pack Captain so long as you're not playing against donkey caves on a regular basis, and there are a lot of non-character models you're not likely to buy two of either.

Haldor Icepelt, Space Wolves Primaris Wolf Guard Battle Leader.
His text says he's one of Ragnar Blackmane's inner circle of most trusted but there was no mention of him before his Primaris mini in Tooth and Claw.

I don't break the rules but I'll bend them as far as they'll go.

thats a good example, because despite having a name in the background he's not actually a special character

Oh god can you imagine if GW released a picture of him next to the Ragnar sculpt?

"Greetings battle-brothers, I am Haldor Icepelt, Primaris Wolf Guard Battle Leader!"

"Yes, he is one of my most trusted advisors, I, Ragnar Blackmane of the Lollipop Guild! I trust you shall all treat him with the same respect you treat a man of my legendary stature!"

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

Well, there's also the new Iron Hands Primaris guy.

I don't think many people took note of that release though. Iron Hands kinda flew under the radar, I think, and on release their new character was pretty pricey for what he did, so nobody bought that mini.

Though I guess he was "established" because Feirros appeared in a throw-away line in the old Iron Hands supplement? I don't think more than his name ever existed though.

I bought him to turn him into a warpsmith

"I don't have a good feeling about this... Your mini looks like it has my mini's head on a stick..."

Adrax Agatone and Iron Father Feirros are, to the best of my knowledge, practically completely new.
Garadon has never had a model before.
There's also a good amount of "named" Primaris models don't have bespoke rules, but were marketed with unique names (ie, Haldor Icepelt, Tolmeron, Zachariah, Jovan, Amulius).

They/them

Thinkin' I need to look over Space Wolves' fluff again.
If I missed such an epic as a part about the lollipop guild, maybe I missed mention of Haldor Icepelt.
