Someone give me the exact depth for magnets to fit into GW 32mm bases. I just got a set, I thought I had measured perfectly, and they are microns too thick. I am having to shave holes in the bases for them and it is far more work than I want to do. Whose got the correct MM. Does 2mm fit? 1.5mm?? Go as small as 1mm? (As a note I tend to use the 5mm wide disc magnets, just need the depth)

5mm wide may be too wide (i.e. strong) but I find 3mm tall magnets work just fine for me. I use 4mm wide magnets on infantry bases and a couple of 6mm's for larger models like Adeptus Titanicus titans.

If you're just using the magnets on sheet steel for transport like I am you don't need them too wide as you're using more pull force to rip them off the sheet and unless you varnished them well you might rub spots into your paint job. I'm considering yanking a magnet off each of my Warhound titans because I have to yank them off they're stuck down so well.

Thanks FF. It looks like the ones I received were 3mm deep. Going to try some 2mm. I do fear some of the ones I've used are a bit strong, but I'll just deal with it. It's funny, I do a ton of magnetising for weapon swaps etc, so you'd think I could get these right. But the ones I use for it have proven too small and weak for good transport in the past.

I ordered my 3mm’s from Amazon and they sit flush with the base. They’re just cheap from China.
