Hey all, first time poster here and really, the fact the rules seem to be changing and updating so frequently that I can't keep up, has spurred me to finally make an account.

Beta Bolter fire.

Played a game not too long ago where I was informed this was a rule. Playing SM Salamanders against some Orks, being able to dish out some extra fire sure helped even though I was still thoroughly outclassed. However since my Codex didn't reveal this as a thing, I looked online to find it was a Beta rule presented back in January or sometime close.

It's been nearly a year. What is the consensus on this optional rule? It seems almost a house rule at this point, but I'm one to play by the book and feel like I cheated even though I was told by my opponents that it was a valid tool.

Thanks for the quick response! I have never had to purchase a codex more than once, but it seems I'll have to this time. You have made my day.

Generally the main SM codex is the start of a new cycle of Codexes so if you see it you'll probably needed it just to keep up.
