I made a thread not long ago asking about the viability of Slaanesh Slaves to Darkness and got the response of: we'll have to wait and see.
So now the new book has come out and from what I can tell from online comments is that:
- Slaves to Darkness got more expensive
- Unbound is less viable (not that I care)
- Warriors/Knights are still good
- StD got some new stuff to play around with
^That's the impression I got, not sure if that's everything
So now that christmas is over, I am now planning on what to get in the coming year for my new army. Currently I have:
- 2x Daemon Princes (though I probably will be replacing one of the Daemon Princes as he's already painted and not in the style I want to go with with my new army)
- Chaos Sorcerer Lord
- 10x Chaos Warriors
- 5x Chaos Knights
- Chaos Chariot
- A butt load of Daemons to ally in if needs be (but no Slaanesh daemons so I'd rather not have to use them)
For my next purchase to get to a 1k army, I'll go for either a Chaos Lord (I love converting characters) or another unit of Chaos Warriors and an Endless Spell. Going for a 2k? I don't know, maybe even more warriors, maybe some characters? I want to keep a clean, Slaaneshi perfection look with this army; that means no marauders or overly corrupt Daemon units
I do have a few questions though:
- Is my assessment of the new StD correct?
- Is the current ~1k army I have suitable to drop into the game with?
- What artifacts/warlord traits/command traits/etc. should I go for? Is the Despoilers legion the best for my army?
- Any fun units you recommend I look into for a mortal Slaanesh army?
- Should I bother getting the book? I've learnt from 40k to never buy the book since it'll be obsolete within a few months; are the FAQ/Erratas/Updates just as bad in AoS?
- Any other bits of advice for a new player? Is their anything I'll have learnt from 40k that I'll have to unlearn for AoS?
Cheers!
