Let’s say I have a chaos army and I want to try some summoning. 10 pink horrors is power level 4, so seems pretty easy. Matched play rules says I have to pay the point cost for all the blue and brimstone horrors as well. Ok fine. But now battlescribe is showing that it’s a unit with power level 10, which is much less awesome. But matched play doesn’t say anything about requiring the extra power level, so which one do I use?

Short answer: You pay points for the unit that you summon (this is the power level you need to roll against) then you must pay points for each time the unit splits.

Example: Summon 10 Pink Horrors: Roll against power level 4, Pay 70 of your reserve points. Place 10 pink horrors down.

Now, when a single Pink horror is slain, you can pay 5 or 10 reserve points for the one or two Blue Horrors that are added to the unit.

Then when a Blue horror is slain, you can pay 3 points to add a pair of brimstones.

You do not pay these costs up front, you pay as the unit is damaged.

You dont choose how to use reserve points before the game, you do it during the game as described above. This means you can (if you have the models) decide during the game that actually you want to summon some Flamers instead.

Battlescribe is designed to handle list creation before the game, and so isnt setup to take into account things that happen during the game. As such, really you shouldn't add units you intend to summon to your roster in battlescribe, you should just leave the points free to use during the game.

Note that this means you cannot use summoned units to fill up detachments, but by the same token they dont need space in detachments either. They simply aren't in detachments at all.

The Iridescent Horror now cost points. afaik Horrors are the only unit in the game that pays for a unit leader/Sargent equivariant.

When Summoning if you roll a 7 you can bring in 20 Horrors and if you roll a 10 you can bring 30 Horrors. These can be in any combination of Pink, Blue, or Brimstone.

When you Summon the unit you pay both the points for the models and any unit upgrades: Icon, Musician, and Iridescent Horror.

Wolf Guard Pack Leaders and Spanners (Loota Sergeants) pay extra.
