This may be a stupid question (also not sure of the best place to ask this).
I've been going through my stuff and sorting trash out from recyclables and I'm at a loss about the black plastic organizers that are found in some products. Examples would be the tray that contains the contents of a Kill Team character, or the organizer tray that comes in the Aristeia! box. They look like plastic, but have no recycling sign or any sort of icon on them and I'm trying to figure out if they are just trash or can be recycled.

Plastic recycling is exceptionally hit and miss. Mostly because not only are there loads of subtle different types of plastic, but the local recycling centre to you might only have equipment to deal with specific sorts which might not be the same as the recycling centre one region over from you.

Yeah, plastic is a [Expletive Deleted]. If in doubt, bin it IMO.
Reduce and reuse are my go-tos for dealing with plastics.

So find another way to recycle them.
What kind of bitz are they? Maybe someone else can use them. They pay the shipping...

Oh, I sold most of my bits off ages ago. The only GW stuff I still have are a handful of models I like/find useful for things. So yeah, no need for a bit organizer XD

Sad thing is, the simplest way to "recycle" plastic is to buy a heat gun (the sort they have at a hardware store in the painting isle for getting paint off of buildings), and melt the plastic into a hill or something. Or find a metal baking tray that you don't mind beating up, and melt the plastic into sheets.

Oh, I see. It was itself, a 'bit'.
Mea culpa.
I reckon just this once you bin all the stuff you're not sure about and make a firm commitment to reduce and reuse in future. Tis the season.

Yeah. There's nothing on the plastic stuff I'm looking at, so I don't even know if there's a point in calling the local recycling company and asking them if they can do anything with it. Maybe just put it in the bin and suffer any fees they throw at me if it turns out non-recyclable. I'd rather not add to the local landfill if I can avoid it.

If its black then most probably carbon is used to colour the resin. I know that in the UK and Europe this cannot be picked up by infra red scanners/lasers at recycling centres. It contaminates the plastic waste stream and can trash bulk plastic waste.
I would check your local centre but probably you will need to bin it.

Ah, now that's useful to know.
