coming back to big 40k after year and half of Kill team and warcry to join local 1250 Tournament - as you can imagine im pretty rusty and little bit lost with amount of new rules. I have general idea of what models i would like to play but i have absolutely no clue if thats viable and how i should play that.

So i would really appreciate some tips on how to optimise the list (Im not looking for the best net list possible, i just woulnt like to getroflstomped in all the games ) and general what to be careful about these days.

Format of the tournament is just 1250 points, up to 2 different detachements and no LoW.

The list i had in mind consists of:

Disco Lord
2x Deamon princes (I was thinking to run them both as Tzench with talons, one with Warptime and one With Diabolic Strenght as Warlord)

2x Maulerfiend (seems like the tendrils are the better options these days?)
Heldrake

Contemptor dreadnought with C-beams

3x Cultists

I have no idea what Legion would be viable. Also any tips on what stratagems could be usefull would be greatly appreciated.

I have some other toys i could switch up based on your feedback of course - so any alternatives are welcomed, but i would like to keep the Disco lord and FW dread as those are models I havent ever played and if possible to keep the Maulerfieds - generaly the idea is alot of bigger things running forward..

It's a good time to come back to CSM they now have a chance at competing with marines and eldar.

One disco lord would really help this list (if run alpha legion or black legion) but if you're planning on keeping what's above as the core then I'd suggest running Iron Warriors.

If you give a warlord bastion and use the dour duty stratergem you can basically ignore ap-2 on a unit within 6. The insidium relic is also a fairly solid upgrade for a daemon prince.

You always want to use daemonforge once a turn it's a mega value stratergem.

If I was going to make any changes I would add in 3 oblitorators, they are excellent heavy firepower now with recent point drops. And iron warriors have a lot of great stratergems for them.
