Toledo, OH

Can you folks tell me if there are any cons or other venues that feature intermediate/high level classes that are close (within ~2-3 hours) to Toledo, OH?

My wife and I were planning to attend Adepticon, in large part to take some painting classes from some of the big names there, but it's not going to work out this year.

YouTube, Patreon, etc. are helpful, but we'd really like to get some in-person, hands-on instruction from knowledgeable teachers. I've looked at Origins and a couple others, but they mostly seem to have very little focus on Warhammer, or miniatures in general.

Thanks!

I would suggest Twitch, they have live broadcast of mini painters, you can pick up what you need and ask Q’s. If you have something specific in mind, the Dakka community is here for you. I’m an artist, Professor, now a miniature painter. Watching tutorials certainly help, using the right equipment too, but most importantly like everything else is practice.

@warrenparsons: Gencon in Indianapolis has had seminars in the past, though I haven't attended in a number of years.

Warfaire Weekend in St Louis also has seminars.

The Nova Open has run seminars in the past, though it is getting further away.

I think that Reapercon is one of the shows that has a strong showing of artists, but it is very far away in Texas.

On a side note: Local figure clubs sometimes arrange for an artist to travel to run a seminar. This can be pretty expensive, but also worthwhile, so if there are local miniature clubs in your area (usually more historically minded), this might be a thing to look into.
