I think that excluding 40k from the FW news and rumors thread is a mistake, and is going to lead to a proliferation of duplicate threads, starting with the upcoming FW releases for SoB. Which, given how they are pumping how the new SoB infantry are customizable multi part kits, we all know are coming at this point.

It also makes it harder to keep track of what's being added, and what's being cycled OOP, and brought back into Production, if we all have to chase down separate threads.

The FW thread was unified in the first place to stop these issues from continuously cropping up, and I think that dividing it again is falling back on old, bad, habits.

When the FW thread was unified, there were frequent releases coming out for multiple systems, and they were often in shared news posts, so it was cleaner to keep them all together.

FW's focus these days is much more squarely on 30K. Which isn't really surprising... with the sorts of models that are coming out of the regular studio these days, much of Forgeworld's original reason for being has gone away. It seems unlikely that there will be any significant number of 40K-specific releases from them moving forwards.

If they do return to something like their previous release stream, we can reassess it, but if it's only going to be the occasional non-30K release, it's going to be much easier for people to find those if they're in a separate thread.

Because you already HAVE your own whole god damn subforum? Because you guys throw gak fits if a FW thread does not explicitly state 'also for 40k'? I mean, seriously, when has Dakka EVER bent over backwards for a 40k spinoff game like you guys as much as it has for 30k players? BFG players would have KILLED for this sort of preferential treatment instead of being told to piss off to Other GW Scifi and now the Specialist Games section, never mind Epic or even some of the ones in current release like Necromunda.

The fact that 30k has its own sub forum is irrelevant to it getting its own N&R thread, previously it was the only GW game that did not have its own dedicated thread in News and Rumours.

As for your other assertion, sub forums are created if a game or system generates enough posts to warrant having a new forum created for it. No other GW game is so far generating enough threads to warrant it, if this changes then a new forum may be created to cater to it but until that point it is not going to happen.

In response to the news from LVO over the weekend, I've opened a new FW - 40k thread, so that none of the 30k players get their feelings hurt by a 40k related FW announcement.
