Hey there, I was curious as to what people think are good loadouts for the Company Command Squad. I currently have two equipped with all Flamers to shove on the frontlines with my regular guys and act as cheap firepower for anything that rushes me as most of the armies I play against are hordes, especially 'Nids. Would Plasma, Melta, or Snipers be good choices, as I am planning on getting another two later on. I run Cadians btw if this helps.

Also sort of un-related to the question, but I have a spare two guardsmen I can build up and quite a lot of spare bits. Should I go for a third CC, a second PC, a MoO Conversion (Since I play with some Artillery), or two extra meatshields to try and form a new squad with some other random guardsmen I have laying around.

Any suggestions are appreciated, thank you.

I haven't tried the build yet (and it's definitely a casual build) but:

Heavy weapon
Medic
Meat Shield.

For 42 points you get a two wound BS 3+ heavy bolter, a medic to keep it going, and a body to absorb bullets for the rest.

Different heavy weapons will change the cost.

Don't use them as just too easy to wipe out. Vet squads are in the same slot and are more survivable, expand to one of those?

As others have said they aren't particularly used at the moment due to the ease of wiping out a few T3 bodies.

I think their best use may be with sniper rifles, outrange most anti infantry fire and may actually do something, not sure they are better than ratlings though...

Having played since RT came out i have 5 command squads built with special /heavy /banner and medic. To provide flexability i have kitted out spare bodies with all the special options so i can set my command squads to the load out i want for a game.

I understand building a good list but i still believe you need command squads per 3 or 4 regular squads the army looks and plays more like its supposed to that way.

Have played 40k since they were called the Imperial Army. 6k IG 10k Nids 2k GSC

4 Plasmaguns.

Using the Vigilus Defiant formation, you can pack up the unit in a Chimera, drive up, and crap them out to plasmagun [or meltagun or whatever you want] something really dead. It's not good-good, but it's like adequate to be annoying in a casual game. The command squad is kind of useless other than a glorified special weapons team.

Guardsmen, hear me! Cadia may lie in ruin, but her proud people do not! For each brother and sister who gave their lives to Him as martyrs, we will reap a vengeance fiftyfold! Cadia may be no more, but will never be forgotten; our foes shall tremble in fear at the name, for their doom shall come from the barrels of Cadian guns, fired by Cadian hands! Forward, for vengeance and retribution, in His name and the names of our fallen comrades!

I have tried having two command squads loaded to the brim with plasma /melta guns. Put them both into a chimera or taurox and zoom of towards the biggest, baddest unit you opponent has.
Out pop 8 guys all equipped with weapons that can turn this unit into sludge!
Its a bit of a gamble, but what isn't when you play Astra?

Inexperience is not a permanent condition. Stupidity is!

The best thing that could happen to them is they are added onto a character and benefit from the character targeting rules while the officer is alive.

I wouldn’t use them, they die easily and guardsmen are generally there to screen and take up board space while your other stuff does the killing. If your determined to put them in a chimera with all plasma or outflank them with the relic, again with plasma.
