Blessings of the Emperor, Specialist Gamers.
I'm looking into Kill Team as a means to convince a few friends who are generally interested in Warhammer and Table Top Gaming but feel that owning an entire army is too steep of a start. Hence the idea to start off with Kill Team as an entry drug point.
Since it's 4 of us, I was wondering if there is a sensible way to play Kill Team with 4 people simultaneously?
I was considering a 2v2 setup, where two players share a turn and control their portion of the army.
Has anyone tried something like that? Does it work?

There are many 3-4 player missions in the main rulebook. Kill team is designed for, and plays well with, that many players.
|
"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."
This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

Thanks for the replies; I was aware that multiplayer was already part of the Kill Team. That's great.
A related question:
I got several 24"x24" board pieces for 40k. The core rules suggest playing with 22"x30".
Does Kill Team function well on 24"x24" or 48"x24"?

The suggested size is reasonable for a 2 player game with about 10 models each.
Naturally, 4 players or fielding 20 model teams would benefit from a larger board.

48” will be too big I think; the game isn’t designed to scale to that size and you’ll spend a turn just moving. Why not simply put the pieces down and put arbitrary lines on it to denote the usable board portion?

4 foot by 4 foot is still aight for KT IMO. All movement and weapon ranges are pretty much the same as in 40k, which is designed for 6x4` and just about any faction can mitigate the -1 for firing at long range somehow. For four players I could even imagine going for 6 x 4 foot in KT, no probs. You can still get your ass handed to you on turn 1 from long ranged weapons if the dice gods are heavily against you (happened to me just today LOL)
I hate playing KT on a cramped table. To me it makes positioning too casual and the game loses strategic dimension. Small table makes KT play too much like regular 40k, with turn 1 charges and whatnot. but I'm sure some people here will disagree with me.
Just make sure you have a decent amount of terrain, and keep the table layout interesting. Spread terrain slightly unnevenly to have a healthy mix of sparse and denser terrain. Good stuff!

It's not about weapon ranges, a larger table makes getting to objectives recently difficult for some factions.

But doesnt the same then apply also for regular 40K?
Anyway, like I said, just my preference. I am not playing tournaments and I like the idea of things being a bit unfair at times, Life is not fair.

And the state of 40k is that it's a dumpster fire.

Yes it does which is why you don't see armies of nothing but Mv6" footsloggers. Does any 40K faction not have a unit with a base movement of at least 12"?
That certainly is not true for KT and a 4x4 board gives a massive advantage to the factions that do have fast moving models.
What interesting positioning is available to a faction where everyone moves 6" or less on a 4x4 table? You are making deployment decisions much more important and in game movent much less important which means luck becomes more important as moving to respond to things going poorly simply isn't possible (unless you play a faction that has fast movers in which case you can play as normal). Anything that reduces significant in-game decisions is a bad thing in my opinion.
Also, if you're getting your ass handed to you on T1 across a 4ft board then something is very wrong with your terrain.
