An Inquisitor does not use a slot, so you need another HQ to have a battalion. Also, I'd never understand why using a basic inquisitor when you can have Eisenhorn for +25 points (casts 2, denies 2, rerolls one psychic test with warlord trait, better gear, Ld10 in a bubble), or Coteaz for +35 (more durable, decent in HtH, functionally -1 CP to your opponent, cast 3 and denies 2 with the warlord trait, Ld10). It seems like a small investment, to multiply your psychic offense.
What relic(s) are you planning on using? Any tactics you'd like to discuss, besides the massive Paladins deathstar? What is your starting Tide, and do you plan on changing it in most games?

Crap you’re right. I’ll have to redistribute the Supreme Command and lose a CP.
I don’t know how I would find points for the named Inquisitor, good as they are. The only place I can make room is dropping bodies from the big GKSS—but every model I lose makes Psybolts less efficient.
I’m thinking the Matrix and the Sanctic Shard. I’d really like to make sure that several of the Dominus powers go off each turn.
I would likely take the Staff in games against TSons or Tzeentch or GK (perils are worthless against Eldar)

No Bro-Cap for psychic artillery? 2MW smites may hurt, but when you're restricted to 12" range you've got very limited capacity to hurt things.

Automatically Appended Next Post: Based on some further thinking and feedback, I've updated the list. Got it legal and dropped the Inquisitor in favour of more GK! Voldus is the backfield babysitter. His reroll will help the GKSS, and his Dominius powers are obviously the ones that I want to be outside denial range. I also gave him Inner Fire so that he can provide a huge counter-punch to any aggressive enemy deep strikers. If they don't make any update to his WL trait, then I'll give it to him so he can mix the two disciplines. GM, Libby, and some Strikers will be in DS. When they drop in, I'll have the GM use Dynamic Insertion to land within 7" of my intended Inner Fire target (which now has 7" range thanks to Powerful Adept). He'll be at +1 to cast and rerolling the cast. The Libby will land within 6" of him to give him the +-1 bonus. Draigo, Chappies, and Palabomb will be on the front line at the tip of the spear. They have to start on the table in order to get Chaplain blessings, and their large presence will distract from the enemy shooting at anything else.

I wouldn't be too enthusiastic in the presence of Marine armies like IH, Imperial/Crimson Fists and what not.
The list is quite obvious with 2 battalions, a large squad of Paladins and some HQ's bolstering the army.
Too many eggs in one basket if you ask me.
In a recent game vs. Chaos, I lost my 5 Paladin unit in round 2 (gone stupid).

The advantage of an ordo malleus inquisitor over a regular or a named one is that it comes with terminator armor and therefore it can deep-strike with your psychic bomb or with your first to the fray warlord and a bunch of CC units and cast terrify to deny overwatch.
